C-Point Gifts Codes

The original point of this thread was to ask for C-Points to be giftable to another player. As of 03/02/11, this is now possible! Yay!

Here was my original post:
I wish there was a way to send C-Points to another player as a gift.

I have friends who play STO, and I think it would be nice to send them some shiney colored pixels for the holidays (yes, I start my Christmas shopping early, heh).

Ideally the way I see it work is that our own account page let's us purchase a "CP Gift Code" - same prices as normal CP purchases, so $6.25 gets you a code worth 500CP. Buy the Gift Code and the screen displays one of those long alphanumeric codes (or I suppose the game can e-mail it to you). Then we can send that code to anyone (or even use it for ourselves later if we change our minds). The code is typed into a player's redeem page and >poof< they get the CP.

I think this would be nice for any sort of gift-giving (holidays, birthdays, etc.), but also as rewards for Fleet Promotions, Player Sponsored PvP events, etc.

Any chance of something like this happening in time for Christmas 2010?

I'm all for gifting either CP, or the actual items (you basically would open someone else's C-Store for purchasing, but would use your own CP).

Yeah, that would be another way, if the C-Store had a "gift" check box or something, you buy and if checked, you're prompted the account name and the item is mailed to the player. Cool idea.

This is a much-needed addition to the game, IMO.

I don't think another way to earn revenue is good for this game.

    /unsigned

What? Threads here has to have some form of negativity, yes?
    /signed btw

As my godfather says to me: never start a sentence with the words "I don't think." :)

Well I don't. I'm a terrible mess in chess. People have tried to figure out a strategy... Kinda fails when I do all the moves at random. (beat the bf 4 times in a row and friends are starting to complain)
And thats after like 8 years of not playing chess. :p

But my insanity aside... It is a good idea.
I got a friend I would love to buy stuff for. He plays with time cards and I can stand being in a team with him for more than 5 minutes and a $5-$10 here or there is no issue for me when it comes to friends.

Well it looks like another thread caught Stormshade's eye and he says it's a long way off...
    http://forums.startrekonline.com/showthread.php?p=3092079#post3092079

Of course other things that were once a long way off got closer when enough people wanted it. So keep the signatures/posts coming... :D

I'm not surprised that it's been mentioned before. I am surprised Cryptic hasn't made it so.

    Hopefully some day. >sigh<

And as some one else said (I think in a diff thread about this topic), I'd bet the bean counters would prefer it happen before Christmas. :D

Despite not being a big fan of the C-Store, I think that this would be a great idea.

    I guess that's a roundabout way of saying "/signed".

I'd like to be able to by CP from a card in a store, like with the subscription cards or with Microsift Points with Xbox. They coul dmake them so they have to be activated at the cash register to disuade theft. Only reason is I hate using my credit card (that and I don't always have access to it). Would be nice to use cash to get CP.

Please forgive this bit of Necromancy, but I think this zombie deserves a stretch. Atari "C-Point" Tokens are now giftable:

    Thanks Cryptic/Atari! :D
