What is this? I did something I almost never do and actually read an "Ask Cryptic." My melon is totally scrambled. I can't think straight. I ask you my fellow proud Klings, did I read this right?

"Dstahl: Yes. There will be at least 1 big item at the end of each research tree that will be only attainable via crafting. The current plan is to make these 3 items have synergy via a set bonus and to ensure they are not bind on pick up. This also involves making crafting available on Qo’nos and adding missions where KDF faction players can raid Federation research stations to nab anomaly data. We have a lot more plans but this is where we’re starting and hope to continually add more benefits to the research game."

OMG there is some real love on the Klingon radar? Crafting on Quo'nos? Raids of Memory Alpha or something like it? DStahl this is too good to be true. I know it will take time, but I so look forward to this.

Sounds pretty exciting to me. Raiding for anomalous data. I can't wait.:D

Although I hope the amount of anomalous data we get is worth the effort. Considering we'll only be getting it in these types of missions. Where as feds get data in every missions. None the less, I'll be excited to see how this is developed.

Also what about the data mini game? Will we bet getting that? Or some other type like a crack the code kind of thing?

I'm also hoping that the amount of data we'd get from such missions is substantial - but my guess is that it'd take a lot of, erm, "balancing" before we get that...

Also, I'd love to see this as a PvP option in addition to PvE, like some type of "Assault" map. Not sure what the defending Feds should get if they win, though...

Will believe it when I see it, they can't even get 3 ships out to the KDF let alone anything else.

Now the idea of shooting up some fed research posts and running of with bulging sacks of techno swag is EXACTLY why I want to play a Klingon.

Why mess about scanning fiddly anomolies when there are a brigade of spinly weaklings in an undefended outpost who already did all the hard work.

Raise the standard and call out the warband!

I don't really care about crafting, but raiding a Federation research base sounds like a lot of fun. :D

Fed players max at VA1 - Klingons players are ignored and 2nd class - in case CRYPTIC is asleep SWNR is going to take your gamers when they come online - stop making excuses and listen to your players - season 3 maybe already to late - remember what happened to SWG and SONY?

Yeah I played SWG and I am in no rush to try the new version thankyou.

I don't know if you have spoken to many players in this game but there is something very, very special about Star Trek. I have never met so many first time MMO players in any otehr MMO as I have in here. The idea that this fanbase is going to defect en masse is crazy. The same can be said of Star Wars, of course, but not necessarily the same people.

    We love Star Trek!

i myself never had any interest in MMO's ,having never played one before. I bought this one because my XP computer died ( RIP buddy), & i got a new windows 7 computer. My SFC games didn't work on it, so I went shopping for a windows 7 star trek game & found this one. I love it. My first, & probably only MMO. I'll say it again, I LOVE STAR TREK. I love the tv shows. I love the movies. I love the books, & I love the games.( that said, i thought voyager & enterprise kinda sucked:eek:.)
I'll probably keep playing this game as long as its around.
& yeah, we Klingons need more love, but goodies are coming our way, let's be thankful for what we are about to receive.
Back on topic, These new additions sound fun! I'm eagerly looking forward to them.

I have no idea whether they actually based it on my idea of not or if my idea only happens to go in the same direction

but the good thing is that we'll actually get some kind of crafting.
The underlying implication that I don't like is that the Klingons can't do it entirely themselves but must rely on the Federation in some form to make it possible.
We know the Klingons roamed that stars, developed ships, weapons and other technology before the Federation was even founded.
Why do they need to rely on others to find the raw materials for crafting for them?
I am aware that I proposed something similar myself however only as one of possibly several routes.
We do know the Klingons have scientists of their own and we do know they have research stations of their own.
Why not show one of those?
Why show only Federation ones and then for the expressed purpose of raiding them?
Are the Klingons violent Pakled or a race of Duras sisters now?

Since Dstahl posted that they hope to add more routes in the future, I hope at least one of them allows the Klingons to actually be a self-sufficient race in its own right.

When I get together with my father for an eveneing of eating, drinking some beer and talking etc. we ususually go to a place where there are sveral children's menues.

    PvP raids- NO.
PvE raids, It would be fun and hopefully allow some KDF crafting, but like all promises the proof is in the follow through.

I take comfort from the fact that Klingon crafting and advanced Fed crafting take place in the same statement. Maybe I am inferring too much, but I choose to believe the intention is that they appear at the same time.

Why does that appeal, well mainly because crafting is largely useless at the momet, and have no desire to repeat the effort I put into my fed character with another one.

If Klingon crafting comes into games I expect you will find a larger number of Klingon crafters as a proportion, oif for no other reason than their outstanding lack of things to do.

Dont get your hopes up, if there is a raid on alpha that will be in a instance without any fed players in it.
And the KDF will not be able to craft in atleast a year i guess.

You do realize these raids will be the following:

During your daily explorations you have a (slight) chance of a UFP Research station to spawn.. Think "clear the enemy base" mission, but with snomalies in place of "consoles" or better yet, anomalies hidding inside inactive consoles..

    Enter system

    Fly to base

    Beam down

    Kill spawn

    Scan "database"

    Kill spawn

    Scan "database"

    Kil..

    You get the idea :)

Whether this will actually happen or is just still a concept is unclear. They do say it will be coming and hopefully soon (yea...what's with them and that word?), and we can do some crafting, but to tell you the truth, I doubt it will make it in for season 3...I mean come on...it's all they can do to get us the promised refit/ethnic ships we were promised for season 2 out before season 3 ships out to tribble....

Don't waste time waiting for this one...That's my verdict...I'll eat cooked food (disgusting to KDF...well in shows..) if this idea actually turns out on time, with our ships...

According to the latest Dstahl interview, its more than a concept. I look forward to it as a means of closing the gap in the Klingon/fedbear arms race. I doubt it is going to be released with season three in December, most likely season four in April of next year.

Sadly I have to echo this sentiment as well.

Until we actually see it, there is no reason to believe it is any more than lip service. Granted, I think DStahl is trying to do right by the Klingons, but until the proof is in the pudding, there's no reason to believe anything will actually happen.

The idea he might actually do right by the KDF is still something that we have yet to see. Did he or did he not state that we would have ships by now? I was certain that at least we would have them to test by this time after moving the dates around not once, not twice, but 3 times. I tell you, at this point, I have pretty much stopped listening to what he says about when something is going to be released. It's like telling your children, "Ok, tomorrow we are going to go somewhere fun." and then not delivering...then moving the date, and then not delivering...After a time, the children are going to lose faith in you and there goes your credibility and authority. That is much the case here for alot of people.

It's all fine and dandy to have KDF crafting, but truth be told, I have been using fed fleeties with crafters to send me things from memory alpha to put on my KDF ships whilst leveling. It seems a reasonable proposition for us to just go ahead and do that instead of waiting for Cryptic to add crafting in any form to the game. In fact, speaking of promising to add rewards and rare items...weren't we promised an NPC to add the efficient impulse engines mk iv to our side since the quest reward didn't give them out to players who went through initially? And where is that person???????

    Exactly.....

Actually, one thing I have noticed is the unusual quiet which has permeated the forum boards recently.

Call me a conspiracy theorist if you like, but the amount of threads getting Developer answers has dropped off significantly, and to me, it seems the level of communication between the devs and us has dropped off as well. Dropped off alot actually.

So if even the Feds aren't getting answers to their questions, then the KDF certainly won't be getting answers either.

Something is afoot. I don't know what it is, and I can't explain why I feel that way, but in the tradition of mariners dating back hundreds of years, it just might be time to batten down the hatches boys. I think a storm is coming, and it's gonna be ugly. I don't know when it gets here, or how bad it's gonna be, but I feel a change in the wind, and it may not be for the better.
