Referral program question

I purchased the Collector's Edition (pre-ordered, actually), which came with the 3 guest passes. Of the three people I gave them to, one of them is still playing. Does he count towards the Referral program, even though he didn't join as a result of receiving an e-mail?

    Don't believe so - check on http://www.startrekonline.com/user/referral to see if they are listed though - all my referrals are on there (even ones who didn't Upgrade or get Billed status)

    The problem is, there was no need to send an e-mail. I gave them the code off the card, and that's all they needed to try out the game (aside from downloading the client, of course).

    I feel stupid; with a little effort, I found the answer to this question, which, unfortunately, is "no."
