Hey OPVP admiinistrators, OrganizedPVP administration is bugged at the moment, do not attempt to mute or unmute anyone until the bug is fixed. All mutes applied have roughly a 80% chance to be permanent, do warn the individual about to be muted that if they continue, they will be permamuted because of a bug if they don't stop before actually muting them.
I have taken over as admin of the most populated PvP channel in STO - OrganizedPvP - and would like to welcome everyone interested in PvP to join today!
#1. My first goal is to bring new players, new fleets into the mix along with many of our regular PvP STO Veterans who are already members of this populated channel.
#2. Next I would like the channel to be an educational PvP resource for inexperienced players and fleets. Instead beginners rushing to the forums to post NERF!!! or OP !!!!! maybe this resource can better prepare them for the upcoming PvP challenges ahead. It will be a place where players can have the opportunity to bounce ideas, strategies, and feedback off of more experienced PvPers.
#3. The next step is to schedule regular organized events, tournaments, activities, etc. that are interesting, competitive, and sometimes casual. This will expand interest in PvP and hopefully build the PvP community.
If you are interested in serving the PvP community and would like to help, plan, schedule, or organized events please feel free to message me in game or on the forums. I have an idea for our first event idea will be posting about it shortly.
Channel Name: ORGANIZEDPVP
How to join: /channel_join organizedpvp (must be typed in your chat box)
Why are you resurrecting a dead thread? You know better.

You know, I generally try to support the OPvP channel by recommending it to folks for help...

When the mods are around, sure - there might be the odd joke made and even non-PvP talk taking place...but when they're not around, it can be a case of flipping tabs.
Don't get me wrong, I've made my share of odd jokes - said stupid things - but some of the TRIBBLE said in there is unbelievably crass. It makes it hard to recommend the channel to anybody or even admit that I've ever heard of the channel...the behavior of a few reflects so poorly on others that would have more folks check the channel out, get more involved in PvP, and try to show Cryptic there's a source of revenue there so they make the investment in PvP.
I was once interested to know what was happening in OPvP.
Not anymore - it's become a soapbox for the Braggarts, buffoons and other usual suspects who think that the more they are heard the better they are.
Its crude, obnoxious, and generally immature to the degree of me wanting to gouge out my eyes with a screwdrivers so I don't need to see it anymore.
That's the thing. I'm not normally in there at this time of day. Like I said, there might be some buffoonery - some RP trolling (not naming and shaming) - some fleet arguments - but it's mainly folks talking builds/gear, trying to put together groups, talking about what Cryptic's doing, etc, etc, etc...a little social and a lot of PvP-related.
This morning though...yeah, I could see reaching for the screwdriver.

You should have seen the day before. There was some heated trash talk going on about certain "assisted" gameplay scenarios and the amount of insults and trash talk was mind-blowing. It lasted for about 2 hours.
I'm sure that where I logged off, I heard a sigh of relief.
I sometimes wonder if the PvP community are not really just the source of the problem. After reading the ingratitude of most people on this thread, I'm pretty sure I'm right.

...meh.
Well, I've seen the RP trollish stuff on occasion, and that's fine as long as it's in good fun - but those topics? What the hell? Seriously, what the hell?
It does really feel like PvP-related stuffs has been on a bit of a downturn lately, at least during the time I'm on - think about 4am to 9am GMT. There has been a lot of silence - and a bunch of Fleet chat PvP. It feels like a lot of the people who used to be old standbies have disappeared. I may not have been active for very long, but I've lurked for a long time, and seen many new handles in the past few months - not all of them good. Wonder if Pascal wasn't on to something with that moderated channel thing a few weeks back.
Then again, it still is a fair source for quick advice. However, quick is the operative word here. The chat system does not lend itself well at all to imparting builds and more detailed stuff like that.
