Years back I ran into a greta bunch of guys who showed a sense of sportsmanship and fair play playing Starfleet Command-II . I'd done some ladder play with the first SFC, but SFC-II hauled out a workable Multiplayer campain system based on control of space. Each faction had its strengths and weeknesses. Klingon ships were noted for thier phenominal manuverabilty and the ability to put a great deal of damage on target in a short amount of time. I'd played the board game called Star fleet battles years before and still have all my rules, counters etc. They called themselves, these guys I ran into, The "Klingon Black Fleet"

Well they showed me there was a small but willing Klingon presence in the game. Now we were horridly outnumbered by Fed players. But I shared what I knew from playing SFB, and showed them how it translated right over to SFC. We began to develop tactic around the ships. And we got good.. We got real good. The stories I could tell all of you of the fantastic campagns we had over a 3 year span while the game was activly supported by Taldren studios could filll weeks. Battles epic in scale stratigic moves, and counter moves. I don't thenk there were ever more then a few hundred Klingon players, but there was a core of about 50 of which I still today consider myself honored to have been apart of. Out numbered at all times we fought hard, and fought clean and won time and again. After several years Activision purchased the rights to the game system and had Taldren develop a simplified version of the game set in the next gen time period called Starfleet command -III.

Now I never liked SFC-III because to me it was essentially a dumbed down ame to make itmore approchable to the non-hardcore gamer types. Just as a heads up SFC-II, orion Pirates is still played today. The game was tight, and it worked. Of course getting it to run under Vista , and morer recently Win-7 has been problematic but the lot of us came back for more.

Along come STO. It looks good and we're starving for ship combat in a trek setting. The kids we played with had grown up, got job, got families, got degrees but we stayed in touch if only barely.

STO released and we flooded in. A buddy of mine took a hit from Katrina so I floated him a lifetime membership out of my pucket. I even bought game time for a few of my old buds because I could afford it. Theres over 50 names on the fleet roster for KBF in STO.

Theres 5 of us still playing, and only 2 of the five activly.

I see ships, uniforms, playable races.. super ships for the feds and more on the way.. For the Klingons we did finally, months after the game released got some damd nice PvE content. Very well done content. Beutifull content. And one new ship. And ugly ship thats doesn't look Klingon (because its not) Aship thats damd hard to create a usefull role for. The feds have 4 refit ships and the new excelsior and every last one of them frankly rocks. Thier great ships.. And thier going to get a nebula which reportedly will have a special ability that will esentially readner cloaking null and void.

All of the fed ships have these wonderfully usefull abilities intrinsic to the ship. Bluntly put, Klingons don't have ****, and Klingon players have been fleeing the game left, right, and center.

Now here is the interesting part. Give them an even break as a faction in this game and a good many of them would come flooding back. Better then half. Make Klingon space larger. Give us patrol type PvE missions like the feds have so we can attract new players which are a bit leary of PvP (and for good reason) Cease and disist with teh stat creep thats going on. Clean up the artwork specificly for the K'Tinga/D-7 so that the shiop model is a lot more correct to the film D-7's and K'tinga's,, Please to remember that the D-7 is our enterprise. The K'tinga is our grail as Klingon. Certainly the ships from TNG and beyond are well and good and certainly to be expanded apon. But the D-7 hull form is the quinticentchal Klingon ships. A ship hull that was still serving with the Klingon fleet into the TNG era and beyoond because its a well proven, trusted design. It s a battle cruiser. I've made suggestions for a d-7 refit, and so have many others, The Vor'cha and Neg'ver are Dreadnaught and Battleship respectivly. The Vorcha is the largest ship by lore that would operate independently and was built as a response to the large federation ships that appeard during the TNG era. The Neg'var is a fleet command ship that is heavy on firepower.. Very Heavy. A federation Galaxy class should be out gunned by one by a significant degree. A Neg'var is the Anvil of a fleet and should be a terror to have to fight.

I shelled out money for 2 life time memberships. I've bought C-Stor credits and didn't complain one little peep when about 700 c-store credits went POOF on the tribble test server, andf the item I bought on Tribble had to be repurchased on Holodeck. Fed players complained Klingon ships were to powerfull, so you gave the fed players ships that were even more powerfull, and loaded with special abilities. And now they have even more.

You guys and gals at cryptic have driven my friends away due to your actions, or lack there of. You inaction has lost you money accept from fools like me who belived. I still play because after all I still have that life time membership. I feel like an utter idiot.

So thank you for what little you have given me for the around $500-$600 I've spent for your phenominally disapointing product. 2 E-puchases of the collectors addition, one store purchase of a delus collectors eddition, 2 life time memberships, and at least $120 in the C-storeof which no less then a 1/3 went poof because C-Store item purchased on the test server reduced my account total.

I've deleated the tribble install of the game. I'm not going to test for you any more. I've deleated 5 rank 51 characers, mostly fed, and a number of Klingon toons because accolades were showing up and I'd givien up on a fix. I tend to abort away team exploration missions because I still have missions where my away team members drop through the map and dissapear. I have yet to finish any one the big end content missions because I no longer have people to play with on the Klingon side. because Cryptic did not deliver on an implied promise that Klingons were a faction in an MMO.

I'm bitter as hell, and angry as hell, and I have half a mind to take ya;ll to court for breach of promise and see if I can recover any of my money because when it come right down to it, I have not enjoyed myself.

You Owe Me. And you owe the rest of the Klingon players. Every single last one of us. We want our missions, we want our ships, we want out piece of Star trek, and we are tired of waiting. Most of us have allready left. The Federation won the war. And when I hear some fed player whine that PvP sucks I want look at 'em and tell its thier whiny TRIBBLE fault. Fed players whined that Klingons were to powerfull, give us better ships. So you did. Klingon cloaks are unfair! But everyone seemed to have over looked the fact that feds has Science class ships. Well, theres a fed ship has cloak and guess what? Klingons don't have a science ship to detect them. And one on the way which will utterly negate cloak in the Nebula class. So Klingons wont dare use it because if we're cloaked we have no shields. Universla bridge officer slots Whine whine whine.. Feds are going to start getting those too..

I have absolutly no doubt what so ever that when the Vor'cha refit finally appears it'll have been pre nerfed so fed player can beat it with out even getting a callouse on the mouse button finger.

SO heres what I want.

All current bridge officer slots on all ship become universal slots..and no changes in the number of slots or the ranks of the BO's in them. All Klingon battlecruiser class hulls get science abilities. Double the fighter capacity of Klingon carriers AND Feds DO NOT GET CARRIERS! If I have to go into Pvp out numbered and out gunned, I want an equalizer. I want a statsis field generator.. Something that'll put a fed ship in a hold state for 15-30 seconds so that just maybe I as a Klingon can even up the numbers a bit. I want TORPEDO CRUISERS., a ship that can volley multiple trop launchers in an overloaded state. I want ships with special technologies the Feds don't get EVER! I don't care how much they whine.

And I want it yesterday. I want a fair playing field. I want the same opportunitied the fed players have.
And I want an edge to counter the edge you keep giving fed player more and more of.

I want to kick butt! I want the fed player to hit PvP with fear and trepidation because they know without any doubt thet they are about to get tested to thier breaking point. You broke the Klingons for the benifit of your federation player. Don't you think it our turn yet? When do WE get to break THEM?

Very well put...all true, unfortunately i can tell you what will happen, nothing.

Klingons are just a monster class for the Feds to play when they're bored nothing more. I originally wanted to play Klingon but was sadly disappointed when i found out that they were completely unfinished and relegated to a monster class.

I will finish my current fed player and all the episodes but i dont think i will stay around after that.

Unless Cryptic can pull a rabbit out of the hat i fear for this game. This coming from a fan of Star Trek since i was 9 way back in 69. What a shame.

Not that I don't sympathise, but there are already dosens of posts like this one.

I did you the honor (to use a klingon word), of reading your entire post, and in the end, I concluded that everything you said has been said at least 20 times before.

Also: Cryptic, especially DStahl, has on several occations stated that they are working on fleshing out the Klingons, adding missions for them and even veteran rewards it seems.

You guys need to focus your posts in one place rather than scattered over the boards. You will NEVER get anywhere like this. YOu all need to come together in one post, and keep it alive at all times to be heard, or the posts will just sink away in the flood of posts.

I respect your cause... But as long as you guys are not united in one place, the cause is lost.

In defense of the post (or the type thereof), a small bit of wisdom from my work as a Dev and years of experience on game forums:

90 voices saying the same thing are much stronger than 1 voice saying something that 90 people agree with.

Of course it gets old, reading the same posts over and over, but people are making them for a reason, and as long as there is some kind of constructive criticism included, and it's worded so as to not intentionally become a flamefest, I say post on.

Yes, you did. I remember the name. ;) Seems it's been more than just once.

It was I who encouraged KBF to come to STO, believing the promises from Cryptic about the "Immersion into the total ST experiance as part of the Klingon Empire".
Little did I know how it would actually be. My disappointment in the way the Klingons were handled was overwhelming to the point I was embarassed to have convinced so many to shell out the money for several lifetime subscriptions and many more to buy the game and pay for several months of online play.
It is sad to see now and there are days of despair when I see the Klingon faction as a whole deteriorate the way is has.
There is a tiny glimmer of hope as we some new content, but as stated many times by so many, there is still a huge gap in equality between the factions and since they're already planning a 3rd playable faction, it obvious there will never be real equality, I've sadly, bitterly accepted that.
I can only hope some Developer somewhere will see the potiential profit in having a game that appeals to more than just one group of players and do everything they can to make this game the one that will survive for many years, generating constant income, by having an appeal to those who wanted something different than just being a single class or race in a fantasy world.
Where would such huge profit generating games as WoW and DDO be if you could only play say, a human character?
Cryptic should maybe consider that if they really want to keep the money coming...;)
Perhaps they are satisfied with what they have done so far, but wouldn't it be better to be remembered as the company that really brought the Universe of ST to life for generations rather than the game that could have, but failed in the long run?

well I do play entirely too much it seems.- but yes I rememebr now the pvp match where I got your "friend" invite. That was gooooood match. I'm so sorry that your fleet is disapeering :( Angry in fact that it happened at all:mad:

Anytime your see me ingame- send a "hi" my way as I rarely play sober and I may not remember at the moment.

Not that I advocate "Captaining under the influence" kiddies- I just enjoy my pints at the end of the day.:)

Klingon Empire surrenders in STO, Klingon's will now fly Excelsiors but have to wear 21st century cloths when in command of a Federation Empire ship. Federation Council is dissolved and a new Federation Emperor will be announced soon.

And now my Gorn is wondering what color dress would go good with my lizard legs...

Just trying to keep a laugh on when today I seen so many people quiting...

My LG 1 has been through 3 fleets. I have stayed in each fleet until I was the last member.
Klink fleets just slowly die out.
    Period.

A month ago, I helped a new Klink player form a new fleet... it never got past the original 5 members. About 2 weeks later, he quit. Of course that just shows that his heart was not truly Klink but it also shows the general state of the Empire.

I just find it funny how happy these days the feds are in PvP because we cant take them down anymore because they ninja nerft the klingon "faction" to the floor. You are right OP, its a sad state these days.

Office talk. Lets nerf Klingons some more today, btw lets try to find out why the Klingons are leaving ?
I think they are trying to kill the klingon side so it will be easier to only make content for the fed side, or something. At this point it doesnt matter, they done they're job well.Remember when dstahl said the klingons and feds could do the STF's together because the klingons were having a really hard time to find someone to do them with, has this happend, of course not.

THAT was a damn impressive post. I'm glad I read it.

I'm playing a KDF engineer right now, and I'm in for the long haul.

I've reached VA1 with my FED, and now I'm sharking my way up slowly but
    surely with my KDF guy.

I know it can be frustrating to see the FEDS getting great ships, great uniforms, etc.

I'm ready and willing to give Cryptic the time they need to make everything EVEN, OK,
close to even on the Klingon side.

Maybe a day will come, this year, or next year, where there will be Klingon players
glad, happy, and satisfied that they get their time to shine.

HAVE FAITH...GIVE THEM MORE TIME...and if after a year you can repost this and
say you were wrong, I will accept that.

    PATIENCE...IS A VIRTUE.

To the guy who invested ALOT of MONEY, and TIME, DON'T LET YOUR KLINGON BLACK FLEET DIE!

IF it is just you, and me, I will join you in my small bird of prey and we will fight together with honor.

There is no honor in quitting. PLEASE REMEMBER THIS. NO HONOR IN QUITTING.
QUITTERS NEVER WIN, AND WINNERS NEVER QUIT. Very cheesy quote from someplace I have no idea, but in this case, it works.

    LIVE LONG AND PROSPER STO!

Admin - Please sticky this and then go work the feds over for once.

Dstahl, if you don't have control of STO say so because your recent promises have not appeared. I too have watched several fleets disappear (only one instance of the Qo'nos sector now) and know of 100's of the players from the SFC days who will not touch this game after hearing from those of us told them of the non-existenat support from cryptic.

Khemaraa, if you do that lawsuit let me know, I am in.

When do WE get to break THEM?

if the romy faction gets droped in game before kdf faction is sorted i will not be here to see it, ill be gone, im waiting till november anyhows. the fallen on our side grow daily and the voice is being hammered down for our rights as subscribers, gamers and real people behind the chars.

if there were a carpet in this game we would defo be being sweeped under it at this min.

To be Honest, I don't think will see Romulans for a very long time. The KDF is going to take a lot of time just to get the bare essentials in. Hopefully, Open PVP or something along those lines will be out before their added. Three Way fights are chaotic but challenging and its not like Cryptic would make the same mistake twice.

I almost beleived that last line, hopefully they prove me wrong.

    Period.

A month ago, I helped a new Klink player form a new fleet... it never got past the original 5 members. About 2 weeks later, he quit. Of course that just shows that his heart was not truly Klink but it also shows the general state of the Empire.

That really hurt to read...I didnt realize the painful look on my face until after I came out of the 1000yd stare and relaized that it had been forzen that way for awhile.

I have a Fleet just waiting for KDF content and PvP to bloom again, Im still paying on the voice server thats not used, the domain name and website IIve had no incentive to build.

It literally sickens me to see my beloved Klingon faction withering on the vine...so disappointing, its hard to verbalize.

No, I hope the Romulans will be ignored as well...That way, the feds who LOVE the Romulans will see what we are talking about...and then we can laugh at them becoming the 'whining faction'....lol

I find it easy to verbalize.

Its slowly sucking the life from my body, killing my desire to play and even interact with the friends I have made in my fleet whileplaying my Klingon and is slowly eroding my faith in a game I enjoy. It makes me not consider Cryptic a viable option for future MMO's and thats sad because I like NWN. Thast sad because why would I as a player want to try NWN if say Dwarves are treated as the Klingons have been. We are judged in the future by our actions in the past- Cryptic needs to learn this lesson before its too late.

Yeah, seriously a few fleets I helped make keep folding. From now on, if anybody asks for people so that they can make a fleet, instead I will tell them a story about Cryptic.

Then I am a lucky lucky Klingon indead, for the fleet I belong to is still strong and vibrant. I pray it will always be so. You aremore than welcome to PM me if you ever wish for an invite. We are casual somewhat and expect nothing but our members to have fun.
Remember the Klingons fleets dying off is not your fault, mine or anybody elses but Cryptics. If and when we all disapeer due to neglect- they are the ones who have to explain the loss of revenue to thier bosses.
