I would like to suggest that Lifetime Subbers/300+ Veterans eventually be given a small stipend of Cryptic Bucks. Dstahl has praised the DDO model and they do this. If the C-Store is really about choices and not just +$$$ then this innovation would be something to emulate imho.
DDO is also F2P, they only give store points for free to lifers as an appeasement.... Now, should STO go F2P, you might see something like this, but it's not likely to go free anytime soon, as Cryptic is paying HUGE license fees.
Are you kidding? The C-Store is what's funding the game. I seriously doubt Cryptic would give out C-Points for anything short of another survey...unless the game goes F2P...in which case they BETTER give out free points to lifers.
I am a strong opponent of F2P games. They are not free, they cost more than a P2P game unless you adamantly refuse to use MT's. When anyone can play for free, the general sociable quality of players plummet. F2P turns PvP into an Arms Race where the richest players are virtually guaranteed to win a match. Gold sellers thrive on a F2P model and they are even harder to evict than usual.
In a Hybrid Model , I would require a few things to keep playing.
1) Lifetime Subscribers get a substantial monthly allotment of C-Bucks.
2) Monthly Subscribers get a decent monthly allotment of C-Bucks.
3) One server for Subscribers and another for Free Players.
4) C-Store sticks to Cosmetic Items and Character Services. No more 'well you could grind for it for 100 hours' nonsense.
5) No Per-Character Items in the C-Store.
6) A Hard price cap in the C-Store so that we are not paying as much (or even more) than the game costs.

Disagreeing with you because I am both a subscriber to DDO and LOTRO and have tested the LOTRO F2B beta.
You get points for paying a monthly subscription fee or being a formal life time subscriber. 500 turbine points a month. I am not a life time subscriber for either so it isnt just a perk for life time subscribers. Turbing put it in there as an incentive for subscribing. Really the amount of points you get per month is nothing if you want something from the Turbine Store.
Just saying this from the numerous news letters I get, Testing, and playing Turbine games.
On what kind of ratio would you compare those turbine points to cryptic points? Can you buy about equally as much? (Just asking out of curiousity, I don't know people who still play those games.)

Actually the sad part was that this was already supposed to be part of the C-Store LTS rewards according to ZInc, Cryptic was supposed to give LTS one free Item of our choosing out of every wave that made it into the C-Store as loyalty rewards program, but it never materialized......
I am totally against a F2P model it will make degrade this title and its reputation far worse than it already is.
