Formal Wear - A question/Request

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
I love the formal wear, but I have a question, as a female player, can I wear a tux? I don't want to wear a dress. Simple question enough, can I wear any of the clothes? Or am I just getting 3 dresses =/

IF this is the case, that only dresses are wearable by female characters, at some point, it'd be nice to make the opposite available. Sometime. I of course understand that it's not that easy, as it requires a new texture/model/skin (not sure how it's done exactly in this game) to fit. But it'd be nice.

Are ye able to mix and match from the dresswear from different portions of the same or is it one style fits all?

To me, they look well, um....meh...I am content to stay with what I have until I have my Orion slave girl costume :D

Momiji ... Female characters only have access to the formal wear dresses. Though it would be nice if they could mix and match from the two but right now that's not possible.

    .

You do NOT get three dresses. You get one mini skirt and the other "dress" is actually a loin cloth that hangs off the formal bet on front and back. The picture of the Formal Female Dress while accurate is misleading as it makes it look like there are three dresses. There aren't it's just one mini-skirt and the loin cloth from the formal belt.

I would love this, if female avatars could wear the suit/tuxedo options.

Alas, I fear the thinking goes thusly:

If female characters can wear the male options, some people will (perhaps rightly) say it is discriminatory that the male characters cannot wear the dresses.

If they permit male characters to wear dresses, the conservative political lobby will have their behinds.

    Sigh.

Haha, I'd personally be fine with guys wearing dresses if it meant I could wear a tux without being frowned at. When I think of formal occasion I think of a Suit/Tux...

Make it so Cryptic, when you have a chance ^.^

Seconded. I think that all gender based costume restrictions should be lifted from the game.

I couldn't agree more, but Star Trek went through four TV series and ten movies and barely managed to touch the (possibly - in this day and age - somewhat less controversial) topic of homosexuality.

Even if Cryptic doesn't have any personal discrimination about tranvestism, I very much doubt they have the moral fortitude to weather the political poostorm that would result from letting their male Captains wear dresses.
