I do think its a bit expensive.. Considering many pay a subscription fee or have bought lifetime like myself.. I think more people would be inclined to buy Cryptic Points if they got more for their money...
For the record, I am a lifer, to that end it doesn't really matter to me. At the currrent cap of VA and the endless grinding for emblems, it takes about 50 days (assuming you get 10 per day) to get 500 emblems to test out other ships, since I am a lifer it doesn't really matter to me. However from a monthly subscriber, maybe it's worth $18.75 just to get 1500 C-points instead of wasting time grinding for emblems, it's all subjective point of view.
I don't believe the store as a whole is overpriced (with the exception of ships like the Galaxy).
Most of the services on the C-Store are cheaper than their counter-parts is larger and more successful MMOs (notable WoW). If name changes are expensive here, Blizzard is almost robbing customers for nearly 3x Cryptic's cost.
However, it is ultimately the customer that must weigh the costs and benefits of any purchase. They alone determine whether it is actually worth the money - especially with digital goods.

You should just create three separate copies of your VA on Tribble when you get to VA and test out the ships on Tribble.
Leave your comments below telling Cryptic what you think of there C-Store items and cost. -OOP
No since none of the item are needed or required to play the game or to be equal to other player. If people want to buy the item in the C-Store they are free to do it and not forced.
Personally, i do not mind if free they add a few trinket once in a while in the C-Store to help pay the bills if they do not forget to add lost of free stuff in game.
The question is it "overpriced" but rather is it needed in the first place. Too many items are being added that probably should be attainable in game but are not. This is the problem with C-stores or item shops in MMO's because they tend to have to justify their existence by offering "exclusive items" which must be paid for by players and are suppose to be desired by most players. Frankly, I pay a subscription....I don't wish to be cheated out of content because it goes into the store rather then added to the game as subscription content.
Aside for the fact that people are paying hard currency for imaginary items that they don't really own, I don't see that as a problem...do you?
Thats hardly the problem at least it isnt..for me. I dont mind paying that much money for quality products. BUT, thats not what they are putting up on the C-store. Okay, lets see..there are a few quality things...but lets look at what isnt good quality.
*takes deep breath*
The three most recent bridge packs are an absolute disgrace. Suffering from poor design, poor lighting, pasted textures, you can tell they are rushed because the starfleet logo is upside down on the Order bridge consoles. Why the bloody hell should I pay that much money for half arsed stuff? I bought the Galaxy and Intrepid bridge packs, I could tell the Defiant ones were terrible just from the screens...but you gotta be in the other two to see how they really are quite cheesy.
They cant put any effort into proper lighting, any effort into not copy/pasting LCARS all over the place. They cant seem to get size and perspective right. They cant take the time to make non blue LCARS consoles. I am not seeing my moneys worth, what I am seeing is half TRIBBLE. Yeah, this post is harsh, but it is the sad truth.
the only thing thats too mutch in the c store is charictor slots,i have more slots then anyone i know and ive been without hot water all month because of it..lol
Nope, some of the things are worth the extra money (Ship skins). Some of them aren't (Some of the bridges are a bit lame atm and could use a spruce up). You don't have to buy anything if you think it's too expensive...
