refit purchase applying to future vice admirals

Question. I get that the purchase of the ship only shows up for vice admirals. Fine. But what happens if I purchase the refits, and then achieve vice admiral with my alts? will the ships then appear? or will i have to purchase them again?

    When you hit Vice Admiral, you gain a token which will unlock one of the retro fit ships for you for free.

    If you purchase a retro fit ship through the C-store, you unlock that ship for all your Vice Admiral characters, present, and future.

    Was abit confused on this myself so lets make sure I understand it correctly now that I read this post.

    When I reach VA then I get the token like normal and it allows me to take one of the ships for free, for that character only. But if I buy the ship in the store then that ship will be avaliable to all Fedecos upon reaching VA and then those captains can turn around and use their token to get one of the other ones and now have 2 of them?
