Now that we have interiors can you guys add cats, dogs and other animals to the C-store. Archer had Porthos, and Data had Spot. Data even wrote a
poem about Spot.
The pet could have a stay command for when you want to keep it in your ready room or quarters or a follow command if you want it to follow you around the ship. I imagine that the follow/stay mechanics would be similar to those on the BOFFs. As for the animal's actual behavior I'm not suggesting that it be 100% accurate. A simple loop animation where it lies down on the floor for a while then gets up and roams around the room, then goes and sit for a little while then goes walk a little more then lies down again would be fine by me. Cat's could maybe lick themselves clean at random intervals and dogs can wag their tails excitedly to add some random animation, but even that doesn't need to be a must IMO.
They could have a feline pack w/ several different breeds of cats, a canine pack w/ different breeds of dogs and then single alien pets like the Klingon targ, the Vulcan sehlat, the jackal mastiff and the Klingon monster dog. I also think that all the alien pets should be available to both factions, We do after all have Fed Klingons and who's to say that KDF warrior couldn't tame a sehlat.

why not request it to be put in-game ?... the game that you pay a subscription for remember
Cryptic has secretly inserted Ceti eel's into their brains during the last patch.
Sure, go ahead and add the pets in game and hey, find ways where people can earn them 1 at a time as rare random rewards for free, like WoW does. However if people want them all w/ out having to hunt them down all over the game then the C-store can serves as an alternative.
Since these are fluff items they are certainly something that I ( and I'm sure others ) would have no issue paying for, if reasonably priced in the C-store. To me, the convenience of obtaining them all in one place instead of having to search for them would be worth it.
Personally I think that this would fall under their "low priority list" and if turned into some sort of in game reward only item we probably wouldn't see any of it for ages. It would require writers to come up w/ a story and developers would need to integrate them in the loot tables as rewards where as the C-store doesn't require any of that. I just want the pet, it doesn't need to have a story to go w/ it to explain why or how I got it.
ROFL! That actually would be funny to see
Personally, I would rather see some of the more common pet types free or unlockable in game. Then, for the more...um, "exotic" animals...THOSE can be cheap C-Store items.
Yeah...um...I'd pay for a pink sparkle pony...
Well, the enterprise D did have a sort of petting zoo in the kid's school or something like it as I recall but what I'm proposing is that you only be allowed to call on 1 pet at a time. Some might argue that as Cpt. you can have a whole zoo if you want but to me that might be a lil' too much like the crazy cat lady from the Simpsons.
While the idea of making the common animals available in game and keeping the rare ones to the C-store is not a bad one, I personally would rather have the option to buy them all on the C-store. I'm too lazy to hunt them down like I did in WoW (gawd I hated looking for my phoenix hatchling).
As for the pink sparkle pony.....O_o Ummm, it's unusual but I don't see how a horse would fit in your ready room or quarters.
As I said, both Data and Archer had pets so why would it be so out of the realm of possibility for STO. WoW has vanity pets that follow you on ground, water and air when summoned and SWG has holo pets that can be used in your home or ship, so it's obviously not a new concept.
Don't forget that what to you might seem as senseless to others might be amusing and entertaining.
Why c-store anyways.
No and no.
No offense but your opposition seems more like a child's tantrum than a comprehensive explanation, "No and no" . I mean seriously what exactly is your objection? If you don't want them it's not like they would affect you in anyway and it's not like anyone would be forcing you to buy them. So why should those of us who might be interested in this be denied?
As for why the C-store, read post #5 & #9 for my opinion as to why they should be added in the C-store.
Ya, really. $180 a year per person. How many people play with monthly payment?
Which is why I'm only paying for one month then saving my money to buy lifetime. Cause I plan on playing for years. I just really badly wanted to see ship interiors.
But ya, ask for in game added content not C-Store added content.
How bout I ask for C-store content since that's what I want and you ask for in game content since that's what you want?
As stated on post #13, read post #5 & #9 for my opinion as to why they should be added in the C-store.
Cryptic is a business. If they make money they can improve the game. A game that i currently like, a game that in 3 or 4 years I am certain that I will love. Everything that you need to play you already have. You have a copy of the game and you have an account. Therefore, anything in the C-Store is extra. So by all means Cryptic put lots of shiny new toys in the store for those who want something special to buy. I have a lifetime membership, which happens to free up whatever money i would spend on a subscription to spend on C-Store stuff. For those who can't afford to spend money on C-Store stuff, sorry, go play the game and have fun. So, you may not have the fancy new ship skin that I have, you may not have a pet Targ. If that makes you feel bad or less a person because you don't have a compeletly worthless digital shiny then I TRIBBLE in your general direction. You silly wiper of other people's bottoms. I for one will continue to buy what i like in the store and (obviously) ignore what i don't. I am in this for the long haul. So sell on Cryptic! Sell on!
Having something that you don't happens to be one reason i buy stuff from the C-Store. That being said, if Cryptic were to make available for purchase the following items, I will promptly go buy more points..... One: various roleplaying emotes. Such as a lay down emote soley so i will be able to lay down in my bed in my new Captain's Qtrs before I log off. (and perhaps get a tan on Risa) Perhaps a stagger emote if i were to have too much to drink at Quark's. Again, totally useless but great fun for me for no apparent reason.
Two: Something along the lines of a harmonic photon torpedo. A torpedo that ignores shields. Make it a mark 1 torpedo, not a lot of damage, and 3 torpedoes for 400 pts. I would buy something of that nature just for the shock value. Tactically its mostly worthless. Heck, I would probably buy a Mark 1/2 torpedo that can ignore shields just for the comedic value in pvp.
So to recap, No, its too much, let me sum up.. The Cryptic Sore exists to make Cryptic a little extra money. I have a lifetime membership so its a great way to make the occasional 12 dollars off of me. Even if i had a monthly subscription I would still buy fun items, although not as often. I support this game and look forward to years of gaming.
I was being ironic. Why ? Because this game needs a lot of love in the gaming department and i guess having a beagle pee on your replicator is not going to a lot in that regard.
or you could quit demanding people re-read your opinion every time they post theirs.
it may jsut have been that their interpretation of your "opinion" set them off enough to post in the first place.
think Grasshopper.
I never demanded anyone read anything, I simply suggested it since I had already posted my thoughts on those questions and statements in previous posts. If they had in fact read the posts they wouldn't be asking "why the C-store" since I clearly expressed my opinion as to why I personally thought the items should go on the C-store. If they did read them and were set off by their "interpretation" that's not my problem, I can't be held accountable for how someone chooses to interpret my statements.
In no moments have I made statements that everyone needs to agree w/ me or that everyone should conform to my idea. I have seen posts here though demanding that people like myself conform to the anti C-store mentality and that we stop asking for C-store items even though we have no issues w/ the C-store.
These statements don't seem like opinions to me. In fact, they seem like requests that I and others who want these items in the C-store change our minds. Unlike these extremist comments requesting only 1 course of action, my opinions have actually offered alternatives to allow for the distribution of these items both through the C-Store and in game, giving everyone a chance to obtain the items any way they want.
First off, eww. Who wants a dog that pees in their replicator? Second you are right these are not "gaming" elements. As I have said before, these are fluff items and in now way should take priority over gaming content, but since they seem to come out w/ a new C-store pack at least once a moth anyway I figured I would toss this idea in as a possible candidate.
Though I'd love them for free, I understand that they would be a "vanity" item, and are perfect items for the C-store.
Better to have the option to pay for them, if these aren't C-store items they most likely won't get made soon or at all. If they do this, then Cryptic can use the revenue to make a handful of generic type critters than can be earned in game as part of a patch.
