We are heavily considering a suggestion posted earlier where acquiring these ships unlocks both a T3 AND T5 version. So you can fly it at Captain and then a Refit version at Admiral. (love this idea btw)

Dstahl posted this in another thread and it got me wondering. Is it safe to assume we will only be seeing the "NCC-2000" version of the Excelsior and the "Sutherland" version of the Nebula, or will we actually get more parts for the various iterations of both these ships?

Excelsior Variants
Nebula Variants
Has anyone heard an answer on this?

Honestly, it's not a deal breaker. But it'd certainly be add a lot more value to the purchase.

Well here is the screen off of capnlogan's photobucket. I'm not sure who saved it but I found it again on photobucket. it is of the nebula, and should give you and idea.

as for the Excelsior, my guess it will be Lakota / enterprise- b style. ( in other words Excelsior Refit ) but Dstahl did say that they are thinking about making it a tier 3, and tier 5 refit so who knows. maybe the tier 3 will the pre refit style.

I'm not too picky, I'll take any version of the Excelsior-- it's just that sexy of a ship. Ideally I'd want the refit version, especially if we're going to have a Tier5 Excelsior (which I very much hope)!

T3 version of Excelsior should look like the normal one..the T5 should look like the refit one.

Seeing as how these ships have such a clean look...and the Fed ship skins in STO dont look clean, and look rough/dark and nasty textures I am honestly worried about how good the Excelsior in STO will look. I hope Capnlogan will do everything he can to make it look right.

So since we have screenies of the Nebula class...have they released any of the Excelsior? I would want to see what they are up to in any form...I think that will go a long way in putting faith in what we are getting will be great.

CapnLogan has done a great job in polishing ships skins thus far, I believe he is very capable and will give us a wonderful Nebula and Excelsior... the pics already posted of the Nebula are very promising. If there are any problems, I have no doubt they will be fixed! :D

oh those were not released those were leaked. a few days ago someone came across them on his photo bucket page, and posted on the forums. he removed them, but someone else put it on their photo bucket.

but I can expect a screen shot soon because the excelsior is coming out between season 2.0 and season 3.0

I sure hope we'll see the Excelsior refit variant. Best would be both variants with exchangable parts, that would make everyone happy.

My expectations are that we'll have the "Sutherland" Nebula (the one that was leaked) and the NCC-2000 version of the Excelsior.

That said, I think it'd be really great if we got the options, at least for the Excelsior - I really like the idea of a "vanilla" Excelsior at T3 and the refit at T5.

As long as they can fullfill any role (Tac/Sci/Eng) then I think everyone would be happy and it would be canon.

Either version of the Excelsior would be good for me, as they are both simply beautiful. It would be nice if we can somehow choose which variant we want, or even customize our own Excelsiors in such a way that we can, say have the original Excelsior in terms of the saucer but have the hull of the Enterprise-B / Lakota.

But whatever the decision is for the variants, as long as the ship is in the game, especially as a Tier 3 with an option to refit to Tier 5 later, I will be one happy camper.

agreed ESPECIALLY with the Nebula since it was designed with quick adaptations to anyrole in an extremely short amount of time.

I am hoping to see variants of the excelsior as well. But judging from the way things look so far in this pictures it is not going to be the NCC-2000 type of the NCC-1701-B type. Even though on the nacelles it states the serial number as NCC-2000 the extra impulse engines on the saucer contradict that. Since the NCC-2000 only had to impulse engines and not four. But this could possibly be a hint that there will be an NCC-2000 variant included with the refit ship model as well.

The registry number on the Excelsior show is actually NCC-2000 D, like the NCC-1701 D, this would indicate a future generation model, tying in with the refit model. I'm not sure that Starfleet would produce the unrefit model any more, as the ones in the Dominion War were likely in service since Kirk's time and the Excelsior wings took heavy losses in the Dominon War. It would make sense for there to be only the refit model in-game. That said, from a non-canon standpoint it would be nice to have the original variant.
