Well at least they haven't put the mirror universe uniform exclusive in the store yet. Thank heavens for small favors eh?
"Wear the Terran Empire uniforms that appeared in the classic TOS episode "Mirror Mirror" and don't forget your goatee! These classic costumes will bring out the dark side in any Captain. Note: Purchase of this option unlocks these costumes for every Federation character on an account."
it just makes me mad, you pay for the game and they put loads of TRIBBLE in c-store, instead doing a good quest line get them items!
I agree... they need to add ships that are equal to the galaxy-x to the game. well maybe when 2.0 is released on tribble we will find out if they are going to do that or not.

GMDestra said they will. What scares the **** outta me, because I think the Sovereign is better than the Galaxy-X.:D What would be the point of adding a bunch of weaker ships?

Variety. Even with kitbash ships flying all over there are still a very limited amount of ships in game compared to the vast catalogue of ships in the Star Trek world. Personally I got the Galaxy X from the C-Store and to be really open about it I hated it the first time I used it. I wondered if I'd just wasted money on something I wouldn't use much at all. Then I got together with some fleeties and jumped into PvP and I had a blast (literally) using it! It isn't overpowered but that phaser lance is just the extra punch I need sometimes to finish off a ship with burst damage. Something cruisers lack for the most part and torpedoes have travel time that could allow your target to recover.

I know... that post was to give kind of a hint to the OP. kind of a ninja information post.
Although i pretty much had fun with the galaxy x , its is a massive rip off , 2000 Credits for basically a ship skin , it could have at least turned a little better. BUT it doesnt even come with a bridge , for 2000 id expect at least that. A pure con.

It is more than just a ship skin you get the only fed ship in game that cloaks and a Lance weapon.
I agree the price is high but the players said that was a good price before it was put on the c-store.
I know if you truly referred friends you would not have a huge expense but for alot of people they were spending the money out of pocket for those who may be thinking of doing that or about to do it $25 is a huge discount.
no its not my first mmo. think about it, why pay when you already paying 15 dollars a month and waste more money on c-store. the stuff in c-store would be a lot better off unlocking them in a quest line. but no, i feel like getting ripped off, buy to get cooler stuff, what kind of thinking is that?

I think that tossing everything but the kitchen sink on the C-Store is an early sign that the game will eventually go F2P, but that's just my opinion. I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case though...possibly by year's end at the rate things are going. That's the only reasonable explanation that I would accept for this behavior. Well, that and eternal greed on Cryptari's part.

yep. cruiser burst damage.
have been preaching that forever. of course i get laughed at with the whole "but they are supposed to be sustained dps" shiite that totally neglects the issue of buffing that would break more than it fixes.
alas, i got my burst damage in a cruiser now, got proven right and am a happy panda.

It called people want their earlier tier ships upgraded to Tier 5. The Galaxy (tier 4) upgraded to the Galaxy-X (Tier 5) is the first example of what you will get.
Now, do you still want your earlier ships upgraded ??

Your $15 a month does not go nearly as far as you seem to think it does. Your $15 grants you access to the server. Might want to read through the TOS and EULA a bit more.
Unlocking items via in-game activities does not generate income to be used for future development
C-Store purchases bring in additional funds to go directly toward future development

Welcome to the world of MMOs.
To be fair, Once Upon A Time $15 USD gave you the whole kit and kaboodle. Access to servers, access (in theory, depending on how much of a grind or a trick or such it was to get them) to new items and new locations, access to *everything*.
Thing is, that $15 has NOT changed since the early days of MMOs, back in the 90's. Today, that $15 back then is worth about $20 today. You're actually, effectively, paying less these days than what you did in the early days of UO and Everquest (if you were paying $15 back then.)* So, studios need to augment the revenue stream from subscriptions. Cryptic has chosen to augment that revenue stream with the C-Store; not every developer chooses this route. This is a recent development in 'the world of MMOs' so you can't say it's universal. In fact having an MT store makes STO and CO the odd-men-out. Welcome to the world of MMOs!
And I disagree with your assertion that unlocking items via in-game activities does not generate income. If you make unlocking goals sufficiently engaging, for every hour that a person enjoys pursuing that goal that is ten hours they are not contemplating why they're bothering to pay for the game. Make it long-term enough -- like veterans' rewards, or particularly challenging goals that are seen as worthwhile -- and people will keep their subscriptions active month after month. That being said, I would agree that having the C-Store generates more immediate and measurable income than the rather ephemeral measurement of 'player enjoyment.'
* - In fact, I'll go so far as to say that I will be surprised if SW:TOR does not go for a $20/mo. subscription fee.

so you like paying extra c-store, whats the challenge paying for epic items instead of earning them. i think its not right. skins for ships or brigdes ok, but not epic stuff. 15$ is still a lot of money here where i am. its even more then wow is asking??? come on dude. add the epic stuff in game content but not in c-store, its just a joke. i dont beleave everything what they right in EULA.

MMO games have not always been $15. I cannot remember the exact price but when I started playing EQ when it launched if I remember correctly it was about $10. Over the years the price has gone up to $15.
