POLL: Should STO have a Micro Transaction C-Store?

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
Since many players love to vote on non-official polls and reference them as canon, I decided to make one myself.

Much of the debate I have seen is actually centered around this topic, and I truly want to know.

It doesn't even show the result after I voted! =(

I think we are too late asking this question though. You are asking whether we actually need two pairs of lungs or one should suffice. Was Jesus really necessary for the salvation of mankind? C-Store to Cryptic is like Jesus to mankind.

Without C-Store, Cryptic will have a serious "Going Concern" problem. Without C-Store, I doubt Cryptic can even break-even. Without C-Store, Cryptic is nothing.

It's unfortunate that Cryptic is a subsidiary of Atari. If Cryptic was a sole C Corporation, I would've loved to take a glimpse of its 10-Q/10-K and scrutinize its revenue by sources and see how STO is doing, relative to other games. =(

My bad. I'm not as skilled as most Ferengi. I set it up as a SURVEY instead of a poll

But Cryptic listens to their players! Please try again.

Vote early, and vote often! :D

Oh, god. Not another poll. And a completely useless one at that. The C-Store is ALREADY in place. Why waste MB asking if they should do this?

Way to go to prove a point. Even though most won't get the joke I got a good laugh out of this.

I'm confused as to why you would make a poll about this?

    I propose a new poll:
    Should air be breathable?
    Yes
    No

My new poll makes as much sense as this one...

I honestly don't think Cryptic will remove the C-Store and we had this discussion countless of times already even before the game was published. :-/
Making a poll about it now seems overkill.

Many people have used the argument that Cryptic "listens" to the players and makes their decisions based on what the majority of the people want.

Does the Majority like to pay every month for a subscription AND have to pay for game-changing items like the Galaxy X on the C-Store? OR, should new content be given to all payed subscribers for free, without bias toward financial status?

And THAT is where you are wrong because all new content is already given for free to all subscribers.

Content = missions, gameplay features, sectors, places to visit etc. etc. In short, everything you need to play the game.
C-Store = costumization options, extra's that can enhance your gameplay but are by no means a must have to play the game.
Argumentively the only thing you could consider 'content' in the C-Store is the Constitution class ship since it's slightly better then the standard tier 1 ship. Everything else is only a visual enhancement.

C-Store is also services like character renaming, skill retraining etc. Games like WoW charge a lot more money for a character rename and character recostumization, this last thing only costs some EC in STO.

To me it makes a lot more sense if people invest their time in discussing game enhancing features and request those to Cryptic then discussing a topic that's been discussed endlessly for over a year already. :-/
Then again it's not up to me to decide what people should or shouldn't discuss, but some things you should just accept and then move on.

Like my "poll" for whether or not air should be breathable, no matter what people would vote for, the outcome would still remain the same.

I like the c-store. However, I think there should be more ways to get points, such as events or participating in some more lengthy polls. It would be a good way to encourage detailed feedback from the community and get a true look at what they want.

I hope they listen to my poll:
