As you may have known, Cryptic has listened to pretty much everyone's request.
Most of the promotional items labelled "exclusives" were handed out for petty prices in C-Store with utter disregard to those who took "leap of faith" and purchased lifetime subscription or collectors who purchased various copies of STO, only to see them sold in C-Store for fraction of the original costs.
So far, most of the "exclusives" were merely "early access" before the introduction in C-Store. My question is this. Should we participate in any more of Cryptic's promotion that rewards us with exclusive items?
Should we really spend time and money to participate when the items will be available via C-Store for fraction of the time and money you spent in promotion?
I hope that this poll will help assess the community's stance regarding Cryptic's magnificent promotions.
Would you ever participate in Any Star Trek Online's Promotions?
After you vote, feel free to share your thought
EDIT
Great news! Cryptic just announced that Galaxy-X Cruiser will be available via C-Store! This is amazing. Just amazing.

I've said this before and I'll say it here. Why work for something when you can just wait a month or two to get it for almost nothing? I would have been more than willing to make the Galaxy-X a Vet reward or an incredibly hard to receive accolade, but after seeing all the TRIBBLE they flung up recently I'm kinda happy that they're doing it. I'm just waiting for my Borg captain and the remaining vendor bonuses to be slapped up.
:(:(
Of course not crytpic cant do anything right so why bother promoting their products instead it's better to tell people don't bother with anything exclusive because cryptic will sell it for next to nothing very soon.
On a side note why do you think they released the other items when they did perchance that some of us might still get referals look how long the kept their silence on this
I love irony
You mean you would encourage people you know to try a product you like simply because you want them to enjoy it too, even if you dont get some shiny trinket for doing so? What kind of lunatic are you?!?
For one thing I think the Galaxy is the second ugliest ship in the Star Trek universe, the first being the Galaxy X.
Biased answers? I don't think so. They were all realized in the actual setting?
Whose so funny? His so funny? Her so funny? My so funny? Your so funny?
Ooooooh, you mean "they're so funny"...
Here, this will help.
FIRST TIME SUPPORTING THE GAME IN A PROMOTION
NEVER AGAIN ! ! !
this is great
Now everyone gets this exclusive for a few bucks. I still cann't believe I get cheated another time by cryptic... just two weeks after throwing away my "exclusive" $80-CE items for a few cents...
I got cheated twice now.
It will NOT happen another time. Never ever.
Another promotion program is coming? Go to hell... I'll whine a little bit in foruims about it, playing the game, and wait until it hits the c-store for the price of a pack of cigarettes.
Lesson learned.
If I had 5 friends that I knew could be interested in STO, I would have done the referral program, for example, and probably never touch the Galaxy-X ever, since it's an ugly ship that shouldn't even exist. (No offense to people that like it and use it. I have no problem with them, as long as they have fun, it's all good.)
Not really.
I find your poll extremely biased and you're pushing people to a certain answer. If you want real feedback try making a neutral poll first.
i find it funny how its mainly the lifers who are the ones complaining about all the bonuses etc being given out, seems we are the main group (referall program included) that cryptic likes to TRIBBLE
/agree, if it weren't then the OP would take a neutral stance in this all.
How is it biased? Is it not true that pretty much most of the Pre-order/Collector/Lifetime exclusives were sold in C-Store? And do i have to mention Galaxy-X?
Even if it was biased, STO players can think for themselves.
Laugh out loud.
Yea I am laughing at myself too.
The wording of your answers is indeed biased. Calling the "No" answer a "waste of time" is a bias, because thats not necessarily true. Some people recruit their friends because...they actually want to PLAY with them, and not because of a reward. By putting OPINION in the choices rather than simply "yes" or "no", you created a biased poll. But like I said, I enjoy joke polls like this one. Thanks for the laugh!
The word "exclusive" can be interpreted in multiple ways.
1) Getting exclusive access to items (your interpretation)
2) Getting unique styled items (Cryptics interpretation)
I believe all those items fit the 2nd description? I haven't seen anything in the game that comes close to the Connie ship, the Borg BO, the red matter capacitator etc.
Now I do agree that Cryptic could have been more clear about this from the start and make clear how we should have interpreted their words, but if you use the 2nd interpretation Cryptic hasn't been lieing to us either.
Since you asked me to point out your bias:
A neutral option would have been Yes.
A neutral option here would have been No.
In both current options you give your own oppinion to what you think of the promotions, last time I checked that makes this a biased poll since it lacks neutrality.
And yet another person who totally fails to understand what the Referral Program is and what benefit you get from it.
First, the intent of the program is to find 5 friends who you would like to have play STO with you and you all have a great time online together. The in-game "perks" that come from you getting referring 5 people are meaningless. The time you spend together online with your friends is the real reward.
Second, were you to recruit 5 friends to play the game, you got the Galaxy X for free. You didn't have to buy it in the C-Store.
Where your line of thinking fails is what the real reward is and why you're "working" to get it.
On the contrary. I fail to understand nothing. I know what the RAF is supposed to be for. I know that it's to recruit people to the game, friend and stranger alike. If I felt that the game was worth giving the good word for I would've done it without a carrot dangling in front of my face. What you fail to realize is that there are people who don't think that way and feel that the main reason to go out and either recruit or (as I'm sure a huge percentage of those who did this) "cheat" the system and pay $225...all for a shiny ship, one that shouldn't have even been considered as an incentive to begin with.
EDIT: Oh, and by the way, I got all my friends to sign up for the game LONG before the RAF was introduced.
Not really.
I suppose I should tell you that I'm one of those people who went and bought every edition of the game and a LTS to get the goodies early. I guess I understand that people will plunk down cash for something they want after all.
Keep trying though.
