I imagine (hope) I'm not alone here, but I purchased several different copies of the game and other items in order to unlock as many of the bonus features as possible. If 2 months later all that is available to everyone else then what was the point of limited edition releases? Will there be some sort of restitution (other unlocks) for those of us that took "limited" to not have such a finite time period of meaningfulness?
I'm a big fan of this game and all, I feel like you're specifically targeting those of us that did our best to make launch successful and giving us the big middle finger while cashing our checks.

I only got a few words to say to you man on that subject. That was your choice to spend that money. it is their game they can do what they want with it you don't like it then don't play it. Just don't fill up their forums with your complains.
What about those of us who have already bought them? well, for starters we don't have to buy them now.
right on. but those elitist pigs want everyone else to spend the same amount of money they did whether they can afford to or not or at least enjoy them rubbing their specials in our faces.

But hey, I'm a professional accountant that does budgeting for Fortune 50 companies, and not a game designer, so what would i know?
Do a cost/benefit analysis that shows how compensation will help subscriber retention, adoption, quality of game experience, revenue growth, you know the drill.
Granted you don't have numbers but you do have access to best practices so you can do a widget scenario.

You ever heard the one about a fool and his money? I'm not calling you a fool. Don't even think about it. But on reflection, don't you think it may have been a little foolish to have paid all that money for pixelated items?

Speaking as someone who got multiple preorders? Nope.
I got exactly what I paid for. And I greatly enjoyed them. And you know what? I still like them. I like them a lot.
We didn't lose anything when the C-Store versions went up. I'm glad I've had them all along, I'm glad I still have them now, and I'm not worried that other folks have them too.
My advice? Play your own game, enjoy your own game, and don't worry about other peoples' games. Your life will be happier.

Well then Sir, you got your monies worth. That's a good thing and you're right. "Don't worry about other people's game."
You are not entitled to restitution just because something you already paid for is being offered to others via a different method and/or for a different amount than how you obtained it.

nothing else to say to this guy's post but he's said it best. I think this guy's post has put the other's to bed.
First: What I bought, was "exclusive" content. Said so right on the box. I do not have content that is exclusive. Therefore Cryptic engaged in false advertising. Now, I'm grown up enough that I'm not gonna start shouting lawsuit or anything, but this was a bad practice.
I already laid out my cost benefit analysis on the other thread (which if I had been paying attention I would have replied there instead of opening a new one)

Ladies and gentlebeings, I give you that most rare beast: A mature, rational forum post.

Did you ever read the 'End User License Agreement'???
2. Grant of License; Ownership. Cryptic grants You a limited, non-exclusive, nontransferable, royalty-free license to use one copy of the object code form of the Game for personal, non-commercial and lawful use on a single computer for purposes of playing the Game by registering for and accessing an account with the Service (as hereinafter defined). Cryptic does not transfer title to the Game to You; this license shall not be considered a "sale" of the Game. You agree that the Game belongs to Cryptic and its licensors, including all intellectual and proprietary rights, unless otherwise specified. Cryptic and its licensors retain all right, title and interest in and to the Game at all times, and regardless of the form or media in or on which the original or other copies may subsequently exist. Any suggestions, ideas or inventions that You voluntarily and optionally disclose to us through any means will be used, or not used, by Cryptic at Cryptics sole discretion; and, Cryptic and its licensors will have no obligation to You regarding any ideas or inventions that You disclose through such means. No right, title or interest in or to any trademark, service mark, logo or trade name of Cryptic or its licensors, suppliers or affiliates is granted under this Agreement. All other rights are reserved to Cryptic except as expressly provided herein.
right on. but those elitist pigs want everyone else to spend the same amount of money they did whether they can afford to or not or at least enjoy them rubbing their specials in our faces.
I like the part where he resorts to name calling. That makes me want to have a rational discussion with him right there, yup.
And by playing STO is implied acceptance of this Agreement...
What was the EULA saying there you wanted to use as a counterpoint? I didn't see anything in the legalese that applied, but I may have missed a line...
PS- there is now precedent that "implied agreement" can't be upheld in court, but iirc the few cases which overturned "implied agreement" as non-binding were rather high-profile cases, far outside the financial means of the average gamer. *shrug*
Regardless, its their game, their rules to change, and their fanbase to breach promise with and undermine loyalty from in order to reach a broader number of complainers. I';ve walked away from STO at this point and am still unsure if I'll seek any kind of partial refund or cancellation. I simply don't trust the company any longer to hold to any course and I am quite surprised to see them so ready to move against their core fanbase to appease the masses.

but your still posting on their forums complaining because you didn't get your way and attempting to flame me and failing which i find rather funny. please try again. Or better yet just quit playing and go play another game and then of course I'm sure you will find something to complain about that company's way of doing things that you don't agree with and you'll threaten to quit.

There's a more specific statement in the 'Terms of Use' document...
10. Ownership/Selling of the Account or Virtual Items. Cryptic does not recognize the transfer of Accounts. You may not purchase, sell, gift or trade any Account, or offer to purchase, sell, gift or trade any Account, and any such attempt shall be null and void. Cryptic owns, has licensed, or otherwise has rights to all of the content that appears in the Game. You agree that you have no right or title in or to any such content, including the virtual goods or currency appearing or originating in the Game, Cryptic Points or any other attributes associated with the Account or stored on the Service ("Game Assets"). Cryptic does not recognize any Game Assets transfers executed outside of the Game or the purported sale, gift or trade in the "real world" of anything related to the Game. Accordingly, you may not sell Game Assets for "real" money or otherwise exchange items for value outside of the Game. Any such sale or exchange is a material breach of this Agreement for which Cryptic may (but is not obligated to) immediately suspend or terminate your account.
Regardless, its their game, their rules to change, and their fanbase to breach promise with and undermine loyalty from in order to reach a broader number of complainers. And Yes, the 'Terms of Use' does support this, (though the Refund is a different matter...)
7. Your Right to Cancel Your Account. You have the right to cancel your Account at any time. You understand and agree that, except as expressly provided by law, the cancellation of your Account is your sole right and remedy with respect to any dispute with Cryptic. This includes, but is not limited to, any dispute related to, or arising out of: (a) this Agreement or our enforcement or application of this Agreement; (b) the Materials, the Software or the Service provided through the Site or any change therein; (c) your ability to access and/or use the Software or the Service; or (d) the amount or type of fees, surcharges, applicable taxes, billing methods or any change to the fees, applicable taxes, surcharges or billing methods.
Cryptic reserves the right to collect fees, surcharges or costs incurred before you cancel your Account(s). In the event that your Account is terminated, suspended or canceled, no refund will be granted; no online time or other credits or in-game items (e.g., points in an online game) will be credited to you or converted to cash or other form of reimbursement, and you will have no further access to your Account or anything associated with it (such as points, tokens or in-game items).

I'm half tempted to place this somewhere in my signature.
