Well I wanted to buy a golden tribble for both of my main toons, but I'm finding it is only available once per account. Cryptic, you've got this money making sceme going on here, at least have it setup so you can maximize your profits.

Can't you claim it on the other characters on your account?

Once you buy an item (Gold Tribble/ Borg BO/ Conny) on one character it will be unlocked for him on all c-store pages.

However on other characters they are only free to claim under "Special Unlocks", if you try to get them off the "Featured" page it will charge you again.

    It's probably a bug.

About the Gold Tribble, is it any different than the ones I'm constantly finding and already shooting out airlocks by the bucketfuls? Does it do something different than all the others that are already in game?

    Cryptic,

A few thoughts on your new C-store items. I think you guys have been busy and the c-store is really improving. I look forward to purchasing many of the new items in the months ahead. that said, I do have a few concerns.

    1) Many of the new purchases seem like benefits from the "pre-order Star Trek packages" that many loyal fans bought. The main point of these packages was to be able to play early, but depending who you bought the package from allowed you to receive different speciality items. All to say, as glad as I am to be able to purchase a borg bridge officer, which I could not before, I also feel the speciality of the pre-order is wearing off.

Maybe that was the plan, but I think it would be nifty to treat the pre-order fans like the lifetime subscription fans, giving then small rewards here and there.

    2) Continuing of point 1), I think it would be nifty to have one costume, one ship class, the badge, etc, etc that only lifetime members can get, and maybe the same with pre-order fans, only with their own categories. This keeps in with having special privileges for various commitment levels.

    On another note...

    3) C-store should come out with the "enterprise" series costumes (Archer and the crew).

Normal 'Tribbles' simply do a one time heal of 40% of hit points, with no additional benefits. The 'Rivera' Tribble is the only triple buf Tribble, giving a 'Defense' Buff, a 'Damage' Buff and a 'Regeneration' Buff that has a 1 hour duration, but does not have the 40% instant heal...

Who needs a 40% heal with a massive, game breaking 0.01hp/s health regen?!

By one-time-only do you mean that the first time you pet it you get the buff and from thereafter you never do?

Or that you only get the buff if you don't currently have it (ie.. you can't 'stack' them)

I have two big problems with that. First, Those are not Starfleet uniforms. Second, There is enough canon violation going on with this game... do they have to make it worse? 100 year old ships are bad enough. Pre Fed uniforms and equipment is over the top.

I think they could make a variation of the uniforms. Let people where what they want. If they want to roleplay a Captain who chose to outfit his crew in the Pre-fed Uniforms, so be it. It's their game so let em enjoy it.

Tribble bufs DO NOT STACK. There are other single and double buf Tribbles out there, (if you know what to look for, or know how to breed them...) Petting a 'Tribble' will simply replace any other existing Tribble Buf with its own...

And like I said, petting a 'Rivera' Tribble will give you a 1 hour Buf, but addition 'pettings' will simply reset the timer... (So its 1 hour from the last time you pet that Tribble that the Buf expires)

That's actually 0.01 (otherwise known as 1%) of TOTAL hit points, (not 1% of 1 hit point) regenerated per second. 99 seconds would take you from 1% to 100%. And the Regeneration Buff still works, even if your in combat. (whereas the common Tribble can only heal outside of combat...) And with an additional Damage Buff and Defense Buff, then yes, who needs the 40% Heal when you have all 3 Buff instead...

good idea here. it does kinda throw out the perks some chose with ther pre orders bye letting anyone just buy them from c-store. just hope they dont release the liberated borg in the c-store because i think that would chap alot of the lifers.

Maybe if they only made it available to all lifetime people?

Gotta say: as impressive as I thought the Caitian faces looked on the frontpage graphic, I was *very* disappointed to click into the C-Store page to find that this update is making available just about all the pre-order incentive bonus items and the Champions Online lifetimer Mirror Universe uniforms, to boot.

As a longtime fan of the Champions pen-&-dice RPG, it was my love of that IP that prompted me to go lifetimer on that game -- the Mirror Universe uniform was more of a nice bonus than a reason to spend $200. However, when making my decision regarding where to preorder STO, I *had* to have TOS uniforms and the Connie-class for my cap'n & crew. Therefore, I plunked down for both a Gamestop preorder and Atari's deluxe digital edition in order to get both bonuses. Now, I don't think I ever had any illusions about the application of adjectives like "exclusive" or "unique" when these bonuses were being promoted -- I was certain that eventually many, if not most, of these would be made available via the C-Store. What disappoints me is how very quickly these items wound up there. Since CO and STO are still very new games, I'll use the other MMO I play -- City of Heroes -- as an example. Most of the pre-order incentive bonuses available to CoH and CoV preorder customers eventually were available to all players either via buyable download packs, veteran rewards, or other means. However, depending on the item in question, that took 3 to 4 to 5 years to happen. STO isn't even 6 months old, and already the "exclusivity" / "vanity" factor of those bonus incentives is disappearing. I had hoped that STO would at least hit its 1-year mark before that happened. I was never in the "no-one else should ever be able to get these items because they came to the party late, or didn't have the disposeable income to get them when they were available" camp -- but I feel a little let-down that Cryptic has opted to put them into the C-Store this soon.

On that note, I hope this doesn't set a precedent for CO -- or for future Cryptic releases (the STO C-Store situation will certainly make me think twice before pre-ordering a new Cryptic game from multiple vendors in order to obtain a fistful of incentive items). I've enjoyed the CO C-Store model thus far, because it has pretty much allowed the "exclusives" to remain just that. CO C-Store items have consistently been Store-only originals, or buyable versions of items already available in-game to the entire player-base (at least, those players who don't mind grinding for 5000-kill Perks to obtain a particular costume unlock).

I think a better way to make something like the much-demanded Mirror Universe uniforms available to those who aren't CO lifetimers might have been to make them a part of the newly-launched Veteran Rewards program. Tying an item like this to a Vet Reward accomplishes at least 2 things:

    (1) It lets everyone who missed out on the item know that they'll eventually be able to get it for themselves (all that is required is patience and a continued subscription to the game), and it lets those who already have the item know that Cryptic wants to preserve the "vanity" value of those items for a respectable length of time;

    (2) Rather than make such an item available for a one-time fee of 280 Cryptic points (a $3.50 value), a Vet Reward (*especially* one as desired as the Mirror Universe uniforms) provides a great deal of incentive to STO's non-lifetimers to keep their subscriptions going for the long haul. That just sound like a better tactic, financially, for Cryptic.

You had to go and use common sense didn't you? Damnit! In other words... I wish the tooltip was more helpful like your information because I've thought that since open beta. Never let programmers decide on descriptions! It may not be the case here but I stand by that statement :D

I thought this too but it's just a badly designed layout. Go onto your other characters and it will be under "Special Unlocks" to claim for free like any other items you have available. I was about to scream and rrrrraaaaaaggggggggeeee when I saw this too until I thought to check that section of the C-Store.

Yeah, they should have labeled it 'Claim Items' or something.

They were exclusive at the time. Now they aren't. I am cool with that. I picked my package for the items that I wanted to receive and use, exclusivity neither adds nor subtracts from my enjoyment of the items I have received.

The updated description of the Tribble in the C-Store now reads...
    Tribble
    (120 Cryptic Points)

Complete your tribble collection with the rare Polygeminus grex Rivera! This furry pet provides a bonus to damage resistance, damage and regeneration for Federation characters or bridge officers. Note: Purchase of this option unlocks the Rivera tribble for every Federation character on an account. Klingon characters do not get buffs from tribbles.
After purchasing this C-Store item for a character, additional charcters will have to go to the C-Store 'Special Unlocks' tab to claim the item....
