Caitian hair?

I think it's fair to say that just about everyone who's been looking forwards to caitians (myself included) are both quite pleased to finally see them released, and a little disappointed in one thing.

...Hair.

Of the two canon caitians (though the latter-seen one is arguably canon), M'ress has a pretty obvious mane-type thing going on, whilst the caitian seen in trek 5 doesn't (unless you consider is obvious bobcat-style thing). So, the question is... was caitian inability to access the usual hair options purposeful, or a little 'whoops, let us fix that real quick' accident?

EDIT: It seems the male caitians do actually have the chin fur ruff thingies. Nothing for the women, though.

    Caitians are nicely done overall, but the lack of hair puts me off a bit.

    A dev mentioned today that Caitians use a new way of doing character hair in STO, and that the old hair tech is going to get updated to the new hair tech. When that happens, Caitians will get more hair options.

    But there was nothing specifically addressing the female Caitian hairstyles we saw on M'Ress. They all look bald right now, and while that works great for my male Caitian doctor, the girls are going to want some lovin.

    And by that I mean "character art attention," not, you know, lovin.

    Yeah, I just read the whole 'new technology' thing, thanks to the dev tracker.

    An ETA, at least, would be nice, though.
