C-Store Borg BO

Okay, with the C-Store release of the Amazon *Female, Engineering) Borg BO scheduled to come out next week...

Any chance of releasing Science and Tactical versions? I can't imagine that it would take that much effort and it would generate more sales, even from people who have the existing one.

Likewise, as you did release some difficult/seasonal content on the C-Store?

Why not also release the male Borg BO in three division flavors?

Um... you can't put the skirt on the male and if you could, you'd probably not want to anyhow? lol

Yeah, I need to do the STFs, so I can get the Borg Sci officer. I've also been thinking of getting my sister to sign-up for STO (she's always been a big Trek and RPG fan, like me; I think she'll like STO, especially if/when Season 2.0 comes out), so I can get the Holographic Sci officer.

I'd love to see a Borg Tactical officer available in-game (or the C-Store, if truly necessary; I don't think it should be, though); maybe something similar to the Jem'Hadar Borg Tactical Officers. Maybe a female one to even out the genders of the four of them?

I would probably buy a Borg Tac officer from the C-Store, if there was no other way to get it (and depending on it's cost, of course). I want to try to get the KA STF one, but I'll have to do all 3 STFs, and I'm heard some (minor) horror stories about them, lol. I do really want the Science one the most, though; my friend mentioned an idea about having a Borg CMO (back around beta, before we found out the Amazon officer was female and Engineering), and I've always wanted to have one.

I guess I just need to get off my butt and do the STFs. I'd still like to see a way to get a Borg Tac officer, though, hopefully in-game. Pretty good idea (C-Store versions), imo.

There were supposedly male starfleet officers in skirts in TNG. Also male skirts could go a long way of proving that their anatomy is as correct as KEN´s. :o:p:mad:

I was thinking on the whole pack thing Lev brought up in another thread. Now if they have packs that are basically the retail items with more, would the people who already have the retail item still pay the same price as someone who doesn't? That could be a nightmare in the C-Store unless they bring in some "Upgrade" purchases at less money than full purchases.

I actually had a Zapp Brannigan character planned (he was going to be my Pilot/Helm Officer, of all things, heh) around beta/launch, but I scrapped him because we don't have the male 'skant' uniforms from TNG. (I just watched an episode on my DVR from BBC America (iirc) that had the 3-4 second shot of the guy in the skirt uniform, and it reminded me of my old idea, lol.)

Sorry about that. :o I still wish we could use those versions of the TNG uniform (I would still make my Zapp character, dangit! :D), but, on-topic, I still like the idea of different careers and/or genders for the Borg officers.

(C-Store is we must, but preferably in-game/accolade/vet reward etc. Also, depends on how much they plan on charging for the items that are going in, I guess.)

Where are the kilts though? I thought Scotty was wearing one at Spock's funeral at the end of TWoK. I could be wrong though. And no bloody handprint option on the TWoK yet?

I like the Borg BOff enough that it's on all of my characters' crews, but yeah, it'd be cool if it came in different classes. Choosing the class would be best, but matching the class of my Captain would be ok, too.

I didn't even think about having it match the class of your Captain; good idea. Then again, I really only want my Borg Chief Medical Officer that I've had planned since we found out about the Borg Officer 'bonus item' (please don't kill me if I've used the wrong term! I bought mine from Amazon.com, so I guess I can say the 'Amazon Borg Officer.').

    "Doc, I've got a headache, and I think I feel a fev.."
    "Nanoprobes!"

Or maybe have him greet patients: "Welcome to Sick Bay. You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile." :D

(Man, I need to get off my duff and just do the STFs, so I can go ahead and have my Borg CMO!)

IMO I think that the Borg should come as a alien layout instead of human/klingon cause the Borg assimalated so many different species it would be fun to play with the variations.

Since it is going to be in the c store I sure hope they plan to add male and female varients of all three classes but with different traits then the ones that are drops.

    *rubs temples*

Sure, let's go with that. While we're at it, why don't we introduce BO powers that can only be bought from the C-Store, weapons that can only be bought from the C-Store, powerups that can only be bought from the C-store...

Oh wait, that's a f2p cash shop game model, not a subscription-to-play game model.

Why do people keep begging to get double-charged?

Technically, this should be the case, but think of all the work necessary to implement this for all Species (including custom ones) in STO... Is this truly worth all the work that would be involved???

    What?

It's not like there aren't plenty of bits you can already pick that don't look weird and misshapen when the scale settings go past a certain range. Just make a physical template which adds the Borg Bits to the Alien list and use the Alien base trait list with Efficient Captain and (whatever the Regeneration stat is) force-selected.

I like the idea of being to be able to pick another species for our Borg officers other than Human or Klingon. I not really pushing for it, though; I'm role-playing mine as a Norcadian (yeah, yeah, I'm a Voyager fanboi, heh), even though she's 'technically' a Liberated Borg Human.

Sorry, in a weird mood, it seems.

However, to indirectly agree with SquidheadJax: Let's not push for more stuff in the C-Store. I appreciate that this is an additional and somewhat needed revenue stream for Cryptic, but it can quickly get out of hand.

Very much so. I wouldn't mind seeing them.

*sigh* C-Store Costume Pack: Scots Highlander, I bet. With equippable bagpipes and /bagpipes emote. With sound. You know, that might almost be worth getting to torque the heck out of people in Spacedock. Would that count as game-affecting?

So are the 'skants,' lol. I'd like to see kilt options for the people who want them; I just really want to be able to make my Zapp Brannigan Pilot. Maybe one day, hopefully...

Ahh yes. I forgot the Zapp Suit. Sure, it's not Trek, but there was sort of a crossover...

    YESS!! Muwahahaha! :D

(I've had the idea of making Zapp since before beta, but I've put him on hold because I can't put him in his proper uniform. If they do add the 'skant' uniforms (or heck, even kilt options), I'll be able to finally make him. Funny thing is, one of my alt's officers was originally named Kiq, and is a little green alien that looks a lot like Kif. I've changed his name (well, the 'q' to 'f', anyhow), and I'll probably change what little bits differ from the Futurama version.)

Just to try to get back on-topic a bit, I'd still like to see at least an obtainable Tactical Borg Officer; preferably through game play, but C-Store if they must.

Notice my next post mentioned that Scotty had on a kilt during the funeral of Spock in Wrath? :) So maybe they will put it as part of the Wrath set. Plus the bloody hand print option on the open flap like Kirk was sporting in that movie.

Note: I'm not asking for C-Store to be the only source of Borg BOs or even to replace the STF version.

I'm just saying, they likely limited the Amazon version to being an Engineer because they only intended to do one version of her, to keep the pre-order from being too valuable in relation to other pre-orders.

But once you put her up on the C-Store, I think it raises the question, "Why not release three separate versions of her?"

I think there is a fundamental problem with releasing a Cash version of an in game resource (BO) when the only in game version is limited to
    1. Pre-order
    2. End Game Mission
    3. EXTREMELY rare BO (as in they are 17m on the exchange)

I have no issue with letting people have all the liberated borg officers they want, however I have a huge problem with encouraging people to buy them from the c-store because the bugged passive assignment means that only 1-2 of the 20 or so BO you are given even have a chance to have efficient.

They are financially gaining by allowing the bug to remain in game, because many people who are min/maxers will buy the BO because no other option is available to get efficient trait (one of the few traits that affect space).
