Are there any details available on the Holographic Bridge Officer from the friend referral program? Is it an engineer, science, or tactical officer? Does it have any specific or unique traits and/or skills? Is it a specific race or gender? Can the look be customized at all? Any screenshots available?

If they are anything like the Galaxy X plans they will no doubt have special powers that make them better than any other BOFFs you can get.

Frankly, I am going to be repulsed when I have to see others with these things and when I see Galaxy-X's flying around.

"Fleecegate" indeed. Brought to you by John Needham, ex Sr VP of SOE.

Wow that totally obliterates his point.
    Oh wait, no it doesn't.

I'm sure there's going to be something unique about the holographic bridge officer, otherwise what would be the point in offering it at all. The same could be said for the liberated borg bridge officer. (shrug)

I know. Totally getting bent out of shape over a "vidya game" is a hard argument to counter.

What makes parody humor funny is that it has to have a germ of fact in it.

And your scenario is... disturbingly likely considering the illogical behavior of the marketing department.

Well, since we're back to Monday, maybe the developers have some new information available on the Holographic Bridge Officer?

It shoots lazerz from its eyes and can solo an entire romulan fleet with it's very own multi-vector assault prometheus escort it gets for it's special BOFF power. As an added bonus, it does have the redmatter explosion that eliminates all enemies on the current map, with a 60 second cooldown. This is meant to work in conjunction with the galaxy-x death star laser which will destroy any ship in 1 hit every 5 seconds. This is designed this way so we can kill everyone in a pvp map and then camp the respawn.

I can't get over the rage surrounding these referral incentives. It's funny because the original post basically asked:
    • Which profession is it - Tactical, Engineer, or Science?
    • Which gender does it appear to look like - male or female?
    • Can the look be customized like every other bridge officer?
    • Does it have unique traits like every other bridge officer?
And yet people immediately picture a bridge officer dual wielding galaxy-x cruisers in each hand, or something. You guys are going to develop ulcers.

Its absolutely rediculous that Ulcers are tied into the referral program. They should be given out as Vet rewards!

Ulcers should be given out as part of the veteran rewards. I'll avoid claiming mine from the c-store though.

My first officer could be a sexy hologram and when you tired of her you send her to the tailor to make her look like a different hottie.....Just OMG don't make it look like Robert Picardo who played the EMH, That would be a buzz kill :P

*You should be able to select the sex and race from any federation race
    * The holo BOFF should have a efficiency trait, they are often integrated into the main computer
    * You should be able to select there profession, and have traits/ abilities to go with each

That would be my suggestion. Oh then finally kill the referral program, and make them all veterans/ Lifetime rewards for current Prelaunch investors and future lifers

Since I have a photonic officer, I'll answer these.
    • Science Officer
    • It is male only
    • No, you cannot customize it other than it's name. Tailer's just don't know how to customize that mobile emiter.
    • Yes, most noticable trait is the Photonic Lifeform. It gains natural resistance to physical and kinetic damage but is very weak to tetryon damage. It also cannot substain injuries; so if your playing on advance or elite, send this officer out to the slaughter. Oh, and when it is KOed, it turns into a holoemiter on the ground that you need to 'boot up'

Also worth note, it comes with Photonic Officer III BO space skill.

No, they did not use a lifetime subscription. They did however used one of those 60-day pre-paid cards from Amazon though. Apparently those bill right away because they are pre-paid.

Thanks for the info, Cursix. I've been thinking about buying my sister a copy of STO (and a 1-month sub) to get the Holographic officer, and I'm definitely going to do so now. I was kind of wanting to hold off till the end of the month (so her sub would be active during Season 2, and that would hook her to keep playing hopefully), but I might just do a 60-day card like you said.

Ironically, I currently can't even play STO because my main computer died, and this one can't run it. I've been RPing a Holo Tactical officer up til now; I'll have to switch some things around because he's science (which makes sense to me). I hope they allow us to alter his appearance later on (the Doctor did it all the time), but I like his traits and the Photonic Officer III.

The injury thing seems to be a bug. The medical bay says he has no injuries.

    Immune to Confuse adn Toxin.

Jeeze, Cryptic, learn to proofread. Typos in the forums or in chat are one thing, but they should not make it in to the game.

He has resistances to healing - Kinda funny but it makes sense.

Where does the weakness to Tetryon come from ?

From those skills, he is an Exploiter BO but his traits are poor.

    Personnally,

    I would have put

Superior Photonic Lifeform - Throw in the Superior Stubborn and combine them into this racial trait.

Superior Creative - Improves his powers
Superior (Medic or something) - Team Regeneration / Heal buff
    Superior Luck

Being able to alter his appearance and gender would be an obvious plus since females crew members are desired much more.

However, thanks for posting, what little intrest I had in the referral program is now gone with the revelation that this BO is inferior to whats available. Same as that stupid KA Borg BO but hopefully the Galaxy-X will turn out to be an equal disappointment.

    Much thanks for the info!

If it's KO'ed, is there an option to reboot it during combat (just like you can resuscitate other down team members in combat)?

I'm a bit sad that the features can't be customized. Were you able to at least name him? Superior Stubborn is an odd choice too. I wonder if that's random. And I wonder what they mean by "resist heal". Can he not be healed? Or is healing just not very effective on him?

Thanks a lot for the info!

@Cryptic Devs whom might see this:
I really would've liked to have had seen this photonic bridge officer look like the tutorial Mark IV EMH.
Matt managed to give some tweaks to the borg bridge officer. Could some additional tweaks be made for the hptonic BO as well please?

Yes, I was able to name him. Hence the Edward thing. I decided to keep his initials EMH for the hell of it.

His default tetroyon resist is -25% I believe. I have it much lower than that due to the armor I gave him. And he is more equipped to give out healing on the battle field than anything.

For note, there is a Klingon Variant too.

When he is KOed, an emitter falls to the ground where he was. You have to walk up to it and use your recesitate ability just like any other officer or player.

As for healing, I haven't tried that actually as of yet. I should see what happens when I toss a medical tricorder on him. All though he can and will use tribbles when available.

    Edit:
Yes, you can heal them, but you loose about 20% of the heal on him.

Well Tetryon's special effect is to destroy shields. Holograms are essentially solid force shields. Makes perfect sense to me.

So its another ground-centered BO, like the KA Borg?

Any chance the Dev's will open up the holographic bridge officer to be customized? Seems weird to not let players customize his uniform at least.
