Why are all races C-store purchases.

I am getting annoyed that all new races you add to the game are added to C-store. I mean in Beta we heard talk of you adding Tellarites and Caitians to the game. Yet when you add the Tellarites they are added as C-store items. Personally I don't see much reason these should have to be purchasable items.

I don't know about Catians, but Tellarites you could already make in-game using the customizable Alien.

Yeah, I'm not sure about whether you can already make these races in the character generator or not, but I never really thought they'd be all that... well, popular. I mean, honestly, Pakled? :p

So long as the races in the C-Store aren't overpowered compared to what you get in the game, I don't really have an issue with it; just think of it like a mini-expansion -> In WoW, you couldn't play a blood elf unless you bought the expansion (or, that's the way it was when I stopped playing).

I want a Jem'Hadar, and I'd be willing to pay a little bit if it were a C-Store option; in fact, I expect/ed it.

Honestly though, atm, there's very little in the c-store that I'd even WANT to buy. Even with my free credits.

The Caitians I could live with being in the C-Store, but...

Here we have 4 races that were the founding worlds of the United Federation of Planets: Humans, Vulcans, Andorians, and Tellarites. 3 of those 4 shipped with the game as playable races; but when they implement the 4th, they put it in the C-STORE!?!

Caitians, Ferengi, UFP Klingons, and Pakleds I understand going to the C-Store, they were 'fluff' races in the series', most independant of the KDF or UFP.

But I feel it a travesty that a founding member race of the UFP get's stuck in the C-Store...

Tellarites could be made in the alien creator. For Pakleds, I don't think the skin and eyebrows are in there, but I haven't looked. Could be its possible, same for Rigelians, as they are skin-only aliens.

What bothers me is that all C-Store species (aka the stuff we pay extra for) are flawed and obviously no-one cares to fix the issues.

So far we have Ferengi rubbermasks without teeth and no traits related to the series, plus the traits are also advertised incorrectly (they sound better on the page, and you only see in-game that the numbers were wrong).
We have Tellarite dwarves that still look tiny next to toons that have - according to the tailor - the exact same height; and a basketball under their shirt.
Same for Pakleds, they can't be fat either; only the beerbelly-basketball look.
And you have Fed Klingons that are as limited to dreadlocks as the KDF version - and no-one has found an answer to "Name a Klingon with such dreadlocks in a Star Trek series".

On the other hand, some regular species are well done and have good unique traits - best example would be Letheans - and they come for free. Overall, ALL regular species are a much better deal than any of the C-Store ones.

Why are all races C-store purchases.

The one answer I came up with after a bit of pondering was:

"Because they're bleeding subs at a rate worse then SWG when it released it's mega kill changes, so Cryptic is doing everything they can to keep profits out of the red zone; from refer a friend schemes to marking whatever they think will sell out of the c-store"

I mean even the gold spammers have left and given up trying to sell money for sto (last spam mail i got weeks ago offered 10 million EC for $4, down from the 100k for $15 it was at sto's launch.)

It's a real shame too. If they'd given this game another 9 months of development it could have really had more long lasting appeal. As it is they were worried they couldn't compete with the new Star Wars mmo coming out next July so shoveled a half finished product out the door early in the hopes of recouping their development costs and making a nice micro profit before it tanked.

This is the first mmo I ever played where you could hit end game in less then a month of playing... (wow was at least around 6 months till end game at launch if memory serves?)
