Regarding the "Klingon emotes" I spoke of:

    a. The C-store emotes listed as coming are Federation emote packs. No emotes for Klingons!

    b. I should have said Klingon "emoticons".

I still haven't seen any "emoticon" suggestions from you in any C-Store or Emote related threads, no use complaining if you're not going to tell Cryptic what you want STObee, take charge and arm all weapons!

As much as I like the idea, what good will this poll do OP since it's not even an official Cryptic poll? They will not even see this poll.

From reading your post AnnonSeek, I honestly believe you are completely demoralized and this is not good. I have previously responded to a similar demoralized statement regarding the idea behind this thread, so I have quoted the statement and response for you below.

Iit's probably too much work but this is what i would like.

Thank you for your vote Lucky_13_X and btw, who cares if it's to much work for Cryptic right now, sure there are plenty of more important things to do, fix bugs, add more content etc, but this is simply a fun thread to see who would like the Klingon Rank Structure in the Klingon Language.

However, you never know, Cryptic may listen if enough Klingon players want the rank names changed, and then Cryptic may change all the rank names in the future, or maybe give players the option to switch between languages, who knows, but my point is that having doubts about something like this is not worth it, just enjoy the discussion and hey if you are a player who really would like to have the Klingon language in the game, then just have faith!

As for your statement regarding this poll, a poll is valid no matter who starts it, and allows the community to voice their opinions clearly for all to see, it doesn't matter whether the poll is created by Cryptic or by a member of the community, you get the same result and the STO Team consistently state that if the majority of players want something, then they will try to get that something into the game.

By the way, I will make sure and guarantee you that the Cryptic "see" the poll within this thread, so don't worry about that. Every player has the right to voice their opinions and this is the very best way to go about getting creative as well as constructive feedback back to the Dev team. Also, I must note that we are not asking for anything from Cryptic within this thread, we're just gathering feedback, once we have some good numbers after a week or so, then we'll start the demands and lead the Klingons to their rightful place in authority above all of the other puny races within the Galaxy (Joke). :D

So my message to all Klingon vessels is, man your stations, do your research, gather your Intel, voice your opinions, cloak your vessels and set course for Los Gatos, CA, MAXIMUM WARP!

If the Klingon Empire falls and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?

We have been defeated by Cryptic. They used a nerf bat, lack of content and their own ineptitude to do what the Federation, Borg and Dominion could not.

I'd love to have this as an option. Allow people to do whatever they want.

When I look at things, I only look at the pips and the +/- level anyways, so for me personally it doesn't matter. The more options the better!

You see STO as more of a role playing opportunity than I and you obviously take your role playing seriously. As a wargamer (that has enjoyed role playing games) I look at STO very differently. When I play a wargame as the Imperial Japanese Navy or the Red Army I don't attempt to learn Japanese or Russian, I study how they fought battles, how they used the tools available. Yes, "getting your Klingon on" can be useful in STO, but immersion to the point of reading Klingon is not my way to do that.

For example I'm in favor of having signs in the Great Hall showing the way to personnel, the bank, etc. But they need to be in a language I can read or they are of no use. Perhaps, because of the recent acquisition of Gorn, Orion and Nausican captains, the signs could be be graphics instead of text.

Signs (and displays of Klingon rank) are a very low priority for me, under the nice to have category. There are probably 100 things higher on my list - things like bug fixes, shoes, female Gorns and ships. Fixing PvP queues and adding open PvP are at the top (I'm a wargamer Jim, not a role player).

For a person such as yourself wanting a more immersive Klingon STO experience those signs and insignia are probably much higher priority.

I must be confused then. I thought Star Trek Online was an MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) and not a MMOWG (MMO War Game). :D

When you take on a role of someone else in another world, you're Role Playing. STO isn't Civilization IV or Supreme Commander, it's an RPG through and through. Some people want to make the part of the game they play in closer to the world as described by the Star Trek TV series.

The people that play that don't care about Star Trek aren't going to care what words are used for ranks or ship names, they are purely looking at the numbers and the pictures. If the game had been released with Klingon ranks in Klingon, no one would have bat an eyelid. We'd all still be playing the game in the exactly the same way we are playing it now.

It's not as if the thread is asking everything to be translated in Klingon (that would be immersive but practically unusable), just the titles of the ranks. What difference does it make for the person who cares nothing about roleplaying if the letters H, o and D are used to name the levels 41-50 rather than the letters c, a, p, t, a, i and n?

To roleplayers the changing of those letters makes the game more fun, for the non-roleplayer it makes no difference at all.

As for signs to things, there is a mini-map that lets you know where things are, and after walking about Qo'noS for 20 minutes you can quickly learn where all the different shops are. It's not like people are moving around. They have been in the same places for months and months now.

I also understand other things may be more important (although now that I'm level 45, PvP is empty so fixing the queues has no use to me) but changing the level names is very easy to do as it's just a matter of replacing text. It would also pave the way for unique ranks in other divisions as they open up (Romulans have their own, as do the Cardassians.

I voted for the Klingon language because if you're going to play as a Klingon, you MUST become a Klingon!

It wouldn't hurt for the fans to learn a little Klingon and the English translations can show up in the tool tips.

Wow if it gets switched to klingon language, then the klink population will decrease to only trekkies who like that language, I'm atrekky and I don't want to learn a whole new language just to play a game! Even the hard core pvp'ers would leave and the game would be only for roleplayers even on the klink side, we ned more people on the klingon side, not less.

This isn't a poll conducted by a Cryptic Staff member looking for what their next change will be. This was done by a player like you who simply wanted to find what the general feeling was from the player base. If you are right and there are quite a few people wanting it to remain in the player's language, they need to vote in the poll then. As it is there is support for it being in Klingon.

Also, one of the things that was mentioned in this thread and received support was having some sort of tool tip which would display the rank in english or whatever.

And trying not to be a thread necromancer here. I do think this is a good idea and needs to be one of the hundreds of things that would be awesome to add to the game and get put on the mile high "list of things to do" for the dev's that will get put off till the 28th century.

    Dear Koloth no.

    Just no.

I've been in Star Trek roleplaying for well over a decade, and THE biggest pet peeve I've always had was people throwing in Klingon words that translate easily into English. It's not done on the show - he's not HoD Martok, he's General Martok. We're shown things in our native language because we, the audience, need to understand it.

I want Generals, not HoDs. I want Romulans, not Rhihannasu or however people spell it. That's the way Trek has always been.

Eh, I have enough trouble trying to say whatever it is that I am doing for Klingon exploration missions. I would like for there to be an option to display it in Klingon, but not as a primary...I already have enough trouble with English.lol.

Results so far (coming from forum users who care) show that most players would like this in Klingon (which is cool) and I want more of the KDF faction to show off what it is to be Klingon in general, making the experience of playing as a KDF Officer a unique (Klingon) experience!

    More votes and posts please.

Interesting thread, although being one of the people that never reads what the npcs are saying in the mission, maybe a portion of the player populace is left out (by our own hand of course). Just thinking that those Orion, Gorn, etc race specific fleets in the KDF might be left out.

So I would only be for this option if there was a toggle button of some sort that allowed you to switch between the two. Out of curiosity though, how many of the Devs speak klingon? o.o methinks a google translator might be needed... as horrible as those things are lol

Since most of the fans aren't hardcore and don't speak Klingon I'd just as soon see it in First Language, but there could be an option to turn on Klingon if the person wanted. Also, we'd need to be careful what where the Klingon words came from. CBS might now own the rights to many of those names and using them might require royalties be paid.

I like this idea. Make it a toggle event, so those who don't know klingon don't have to wonder what rank they are.

Server down for maintenance and a new patch, so while it is down, place your vote, then post why you chose the option that you voted for.

    Cheers!
