Chroniton Mine Barrier pets?

Are the mines from the Engineering Boff ability Chroniton Mine Barrier supposed to follow you around?

I had two Engi Boffs with me and they kept throwing them down, and the mines would slide around following my team. Ended up with a huge herd of the suckers.

    Not sure, but they are probably intended to move though, they run towards enemies when I'm doing ground combat anyway.

    Excuse me if I've missed a forum post about this, but aren't the chroniton mines supposed to move around? They don't do that anymore...

    for like the first 2 levels (lt and lt cmdr) they do follow you around. after that they stop
