I recently started looking for a fleet, and your forum topic was of great help and starting point for me. I think you nailed it on the head with some quick views where people are searching for.
What I noticed was that some of the guilds links are broken, maybe disbanded due to activity? Also it was hard to click on every link and figure out the information I was looking for. This got me thinking, there has to be an easier way!
As I had some spare time during some holidays (and I wanted to pickup programming again as a side hobby), I build a robust fleet search website what benefits hopefully both fleet management and possible recruits.
The URL to the Fleet Finder website I build is www.rportal.nl/fleetfinder/ (Note: I noticed this can possibly violate the forum usage guidelines , rule 3 - as my intention is solely to improve the community, I hope this is reviewed with this in consideration. Otherwise my apologies.
It currently allows fleet management:
Register fleet(s) in the database
Provide additional information alongside high level information
Matching results are listed randomly, allowing all guilds to be on top
Before I expand on this (I have some ideas in mind) I want to look at the interest of you and other fleet leaders, to see if this website benefits them (and hopefully you register your fleet ). Hope to hear from you all!
Rodge, I sent you a mail before I saw the post. The broken links definitely is an issue, and one that sadly I don't have time to try and fix right now So......
I wanted to let everyone know that I've decided to stop maintaining the fleet registry thread. Not because I think it's not needed, but for several reasons:
Cryptic has refused to sticky the thread so far - which is why my post count has gone up by about 200 simply from bumping it a couple of times a day for the last few months.
There's no way for me to know when fleets disband or leave the game or go inactive and take them off the list, and after a while, that makes the list less effective.
The truth is, it's been a very long time since any fleets asked to be added to the list, or since my fleet (and yes I'm being a little selfish here) got an applicant who found us via this list.
I think what is really needed is something in-game that makes it easy for players to find fleets in their time zone and that fit their desired playstyle. I posted a thread about just such that thing weeks ago, and hopefully the developers saw it and it got their wheels turning. In the meantime, I hope that Between the starfleetdb website and the one that Roger's put together, people looking for fleets will have an easier time of finding a good one.
If anyone would like to copy the format here and start a new fleet registry thread, please feel free.

Hi Trace,
A real pity that you do stop maintaining the list, but I can understand from some point of view. I hope that my website can fill some of the gaps in the mean time.
I do agree with you that a fleet finder application in Star Trek Online will be the ideal solution, as this taps in all of the fleets info.
I will take a look at your thread, and see if I can contribute to it.
