one of the many things i was looking forward to with my atari DDE pre-order was getting my NX prefix. - no running arround with the U.S.S. garbage that everyone under the sun is forced to fly with... got my stuff and all was good till i noticed that the prefix is only for the registration number - it doesn't apply to the ship name.
so now i get to fly around with NX painted on my hull, but everonelse see's me as <U.S.S> WTF instead of the <N.X.> W.T.F (BTW WTF isn't my actual ship name, just a place holder for message purposes)..... when you're flying around you see other players names and ship numbers, the registry is only on the hull, not part of the characters title.
the only way someone's gunna know i have the N.X. package, is if they park themselves right on my hull, zoom all the way in and hope there's enough light for it to be readable. - why not just sell studded nose rings that are so small they can only see durring character creation.
not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but kinda anoying to have a bonus that only you are aware of.

I understand you r frustration, but for once they stuck to the canon : in Startrek NX is not for the baptised name (always USS Whatever), but for ship number (NX - 1701 - A).
It would be unreable and soo not practical to have every ship in the fleet glowing with there ship number around
NX replaces NCC, not USS.
The Enterprise from the original series was NCC-1701, and was called the USS Enterprise.
The Enterprise from the show Enterprise was the NX-01, and was still the USS Enterprise.
because it's a MMO and people ID ships based on the information floating over their heads, not what's painted on the hull - and it's the vessal name that floats over your head. - when you get a special title, you should be able to show it off to people who arn't directly looking at your screen.

I hate to break it to you, but it works like this:
Normal: U.S.S. Name, NCC-012345
Bonus: U.S.S. Name, NX-012345
See the difference? The NX repalced the NCC, not the U.S.S.
Since you didn't know this already, I'm guessing your not really a big DS9 fan.
NCC=New Construction Contract
NX= New Experimental
NCC doesn't stand for anything. It was devised by Matt Jefferies, art director of the first Star Trek series. Jefferies, who is a pilot, based NCC on 20th century aircraft registration codes. In such 20th century usage, an "N" first letter refers to an aircraft registered in the USA. A "C" second letter refers to a civil aircraft. Jefferies added a second "C", just because he thought it looked better. Think of it as being like the arbitrary three-letter code that's part of automobile license plate numbers in many states.
Lesson learned. Next time research what you're getting carefully before you pay for it so you know exactly what you're going to get. It doesn't take long to be informed.
Is any of that official? Like a previous poster said, it didn't (at least originally) mean anything, just a bunch of letter Matt Jefferies was inspired to use by civil aviation codes.
Hey at least you got yours I got the Digital Deluxe Edition from D2D and I got some of the things but not the NX or the "KHAAN!!" emote, I really wanted that Khaan emote LOL, or the Bloodwine toast. Now who would I contact? D2D or Cryptic??? Anyone else having this problem?

did you claim those things from the special items tab on the store?
you need to claim and use them before they become usable by the character.

I got mine. Check the C-store and the second tab...should all be there.

In simple terms, the NX doesn't replace USS anywhere.

ummm I took this from the Wiki....and this is the Actual truth
NCC
"NCC" is the most common registry prefix, used by almost every known Starfleet vessel in the franchise. The prefix first appears in Star Trek: The Original Series and was created by designer Matt Jefferies. The Star Trek Encyclopedia[4] says:
NCC doesn't stand for anything. It was devised by Matt Jefferies, art director of the first Star Trek series. Jefferies, who is a pilot, based NCC on 20th century aircraft registration codes. In such 20th century usage, an "N" first letter refers to an aircraft registered in the USA. A "C" second letter refers to a civil aircraft. Jefferies added a second "C", just because he thought it looked better. Think of it as being like the arbitrary three-letter code that's part of automobile license plate numbers in many states.
Jefferies attributed the extra "C" to a combination of the US aviation code "NC", and the Soviet equivalent "CC CC".[5]
In The Original Series, the only registries seen on a ship's hull are for vessels of the same class as the Enterprise. Jeffries chose "1701" for legibility at a distance, rationalizing it as being the 1st ship of the 17th design.[6] However, non-canon sources dictate that every class starship's prototype holds that class' namesake. The Enterprise being a Constitution-class vessel, the first ship would be named Constitution.
According to non-canon print sources, "NCC" is short for "Naval Construction Code", "Navigational Contact Code" or "Naval Construction Contract".[7]
[edit] NX
Three ships which were the first of their class seen on screen have a registry beginning with "NX".
The first of these is the USS Excelsior, which first appears in the movie Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, with the registry "NX-2000". It is the first of the new Excelsior class. By the time of Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, it is seen in active duty, with the registry "NCC-2000".
The USS Defiant is the first of a class designed to fight the Borg.[8] Although the ship sees extensive service before and during the Dominion War, it never loses the "NX" in its registry, even though other ships of its class bear "NCC" registries (e.g. the NCC-74210 for the USS Valiant[9] and NCC-75633 for the USS S

It's actually "Naval Construction Contract" and " Naval Experimental"
That was in one of the tech manuals I believe.
NO IT IS NOT! the guy above has posted the correct reason for NCC deal with it.
