    Wow, my first post. :-)

U.S.S. Brokkr - named after one of the two Dwarven blacksmiths that forged the Hammer of Thor.
    - Appropriate for me as my Character is an Engineer. This was my first ship.

U.S.S Vali - named after the Norse god of the battlefield.
    - Seemed appropriate given age of strife our alternates live in. This is my current ship.

U.S.S. Einherjar – name given to the fallen warriors who are collected from the battlefield by the Valkyries. (Future ship name).

USS Kitty Hawk - Kitty Hawk, NC...kinda important place in aviation history...if you don't know why, you should be ashamed. :p Also an Aircraft Carrier.

For my Fed character's ships, I've used many names.

    Escorts:
USS Warspite: Named after a long line of British Royal Navy warships that have used the name. The name sounds awesome and aggressive. Fitting for a hard hitting Escort. Used in Tier 2-4 Escorts for me.
USS Ikazuchi: Japanese for "Lightning," fitting for Escorts, IMO, and what my T5 Esc is using.

    Cruisers
USS Relentless: Just sounds awesome. My Constitution-Refit used this name.
USS Republic: My T3-4 Cruisers' name.
USS Revenge: My Assault Cruiser's name at T5. Hell bent on getting some.

Wish I could tell you what my Klingon warship names meant :p

I suppose the younger folks may not have a clue who Pink Floyd is, but those that do tend to end up on my friends list....:D

    U.S.S. FIRESTORM - Escort
    U.S.S. INTERCEPT - Escort

Both of them seem to be more then acceptable names for an Escort Ship meant to give the Klingons and any other fool the hell they deserve.

    U.S.S. INTEGRITY - Science

Meant to convey one of the morals that the Federation and StarFleet believe in.

    USS Marvel - Light Cruiser
    USS Adventure - Cruiser
    USS Audacious - Escort

I wanted to get across the sense of the fantastic adventurousness of early pulp science fiction with the first two.

The third one just sounded like a good name for a Defiant-type ship. :D

    Cruisers:

USS Iron Duke (Galaxy) - Named after one of Perry Rhodan's very early flagships
USS Marco Polo (Sovereign) - Also named after a Perryverse flagship

Since Perryverse ships usually are nothing less than massive (2500 Meters in diameter, anyone? -.-) , I figured naming my cruisers after them would be fitting ;) Plus, I really love the books and stuff....

    Escorts:

USS Niobe - Named after an Overlord class battle cruiser from Warhammer 40k
USS Oberon - Name of a Warhammer 40k ship class

WH40k stands for all out war and destruction, so what would be more fitting but name my escorts after WH40k ships ;)

Next in line will probably be "Ex Cathedra", another fine Warhammer 40k ship name.

    Emperor protects,

    Zatea

I name my ships after prominent Swedish scientists or places.
    Centaur Light cruiser USS Visby
    Constitution Cruiser USS Polhem
    Escort USS Nobel
    Science Ship USS Scheele

Not very badass, but they work, and they are very believable.

Escort: USS Dragonroar - Origin: Skill of Drake-Bosses in Everquest

Sometimes (rare and radom like Ghoulbane drops in EQ) ships behavior is like dragonroar. But mostly it got eaten very fast by explosion of an enemy or if a torpedo explodes a lightyear away :)

Siencevessel: USS Ratio - No Origin. Just thought it's a good name for sience vessel.

Ratio means first scramble sensors than kick'em. Mostly more succesfull than the Dragonroar and there is SNB III too ...
