Even in SFB the torpedoes explode on impact. That really sounds like a bug.

While we are on the topic of plasma weaponry, perhaps someone can give me a definitive answer on the "Plasma Fire" DoT debuff.

    Does it:

A: Have the ability to stack

    OR

    B: Simply re-apply itself

    OR

    C: No stacking or re-applications

    I am 99% sure it's B, but I'm hoping it's A.

Yes failread... because your OP was filled with such eleqounce that no room for error was possible. Last time I try and understand what somone is talking about, in hopes of helping them.

Seems most people on this forum just want to jump on someone and troll at the first opertunity.

Well I know what you're talking about Thraxx. It happened to me pretty consistently during beta testing when I would fight Romulans. I reported as a bug a couple days before the end of open beta. I don't see it being designed that way just because it's rather large amounts of damage each time it hits you. It's like taking a photon hit every 5 seconds or so.

Probably lag if that is the case.

In the OPs defense, you DID miss the reference to them NOT blowing up. Which, after all, is what he was complaining about. Although saying you were trolling may have been out of line, had you just laughed off your mistake and moved on no one would have thought anything of it.

I'm preeeeety sure that's a bug. Although personally I'd love it if the torps DIDN"T blow up my ship every time they hit <LOL>. Just report it in game.

thats the way they were working in beta - if it is intended no clue.

It looks like they mistakenly follow the same logic as the Power Syphon weapon, I'm sure they are supposed to detonate on impact.

Don't moan too much, this is a good thing, until they patch it, at least you get the chance to shoot them off as they orbit you.

Ohhh... it's the double reverse troll with a twist. This has a high starting score, lets see if he can nail the landing!

anyways thanks for all the posts. i got the info i needed seems like a bug.
i will happily tell the Gms the romulans are cheating.

I think now you misunderstand lol

They do normal damage, they just don't resolve. They just hang around following you and hitting you for damage like a DoT.

Just a guess, but you've maybe only gone against the Undine Dreadnaught? I think that's a weakened version of them, just a guess though. I'd suspect Romulan ones are slightly more deadly... But I noticed them following me and not exploding :/.

I think this is what is happening also. hasn't happened to me since headstart, but I haven't fought the Rom's yet either.

It happened to me fighting the Dreadnaught on the mission where you take the embassador to the Vulcan Temple (I forget the name), just yesterday.

YES, THEY ARE. (supposed to keep bouncing off your shields, bouncing back, and doing shield and hull damage each time)

I first encountered them during the Minefield missions in OB. It was new with the patch. Kicked my TRIBBLE till I figured out

--- YOU CAN TARGET THEM WITH PHASERS!!! ---

Unless of course you fight a Warbird, it's shoots the purple "I win" torpedo which shuts down everything on your ship... and THEN it fires the "Great Ball of (Romulan) Fire." Then you explode and respawn and try it all over again.

    :D

ps. IIRC, one of the old SFC games had a plasma torp that did almost the exact same thing, or at least it was supposed to, but it might've been bugged

They're a little overpowered if they are... I remember them doing 7k damage a time easily... Phaser's can't always react quick enough if you're fighting a few ships at close range...

    Key phrase being "close range."

Sucks for us Escort types that like to latch onto the back of a ship and beat down a single shield and pummel it's hull from a range of "2" away. Gives almost no time to react to the Plasma Torp.

The one mission I'm thinking of (can't remember now, it was late in OB, was Cmdr lvl at the time), the Warbird not only fired it's Purple "I win" Torp followed by Heavy Plasma, it used a lot of tractor beams too. Forced me to stay away... which made seeing the Plasma Torp easier (assuming my systems weren't shut down or my ship tractored)

That was one of the tougher fights I had in OB. The Plasma Torps aren't bad once you figure out how to quickly target them (and are thusly waiting for them).

It's that damn purple thing the Warbird shoots that's killer.

Are you talking about undine ones?

They bounce a lot =/ but you can target them and shoot them before they hit.
