We are the Vulcan Kolinahr Fleet - we are mates - we are a team and we have lost one of our own.
Most of us haven't met in RL, but in this world of Star Trek which we all share a love for, we have a bond. Without meeting Weed743, we already know something near and dear to his heart because we share it - the love of this ST universe is near and dear to us too or we wouldn't be here. We know what it has been like to grow up a Trekkie or a Trekker. We share that with Weed743. We know how much fun he had with this fleet and this game at the end of his days because it was the same fun we were sharing and a part of. Feel something real for this real man whom we have lost from our virtual world.
Come to Vulcan to be with us at 4pm EST in the US so that we might honor his passing at the same time as his funeral is being held in Australia.
I really regret that , with me moving this week and my new internet connection not being installed till saturday that i wont be able to join my friends on our homeworld, but as i said at that time i will raise a glass of scotch to our fallen friend in the tradition of my family,My family does not really morn fallen friends we celebrate thier lives and hope thay rest in peace.
Greeting all, [VKF] DoktaD here. My sorrow goes out to our team mates family. I will be working at the time of our observance, but will keep his family in mind.
The Vulcan Kolinahr Fleet would like to thank all those players who have been so kind as to contact the fleet and offer their condolences on the loss of our fleet member Weed743.
You are all invited to attend services for him which will be held on Vulcan today at 4pm EST. Instructions are listed above.
I have been taking lessons on Scottish heritage from Daho and Weed743's brother. Accordingly, I will say a few words at the service in celebration of his life, rather than mourning for his death. I know our Fleet feels sadness for the sudden and unexpected loss to his family (Weed743 died in fall after an accidental electrocution), but all have been gladdened by his zest for life while he was among us. If there is an afterlfe, Weed743 is level 50 already!
A R/L internet problem with my isp robbed me of my chance to attend Weed743's service, however,my sincerest condolences go out to his immediate family and friends.
I really gotta learn how to take screen shots. Anyone want to volunteer the info?
Print Screen button. The shots can be pasted immediately into a program or rather more handily, if you want them without all the HUD stuff and/or you don't want to alt-tab out of the game, you can find them all later on in a screenshots folder within the installation folder of the game.
I have created a Vulcan SCI captain and Vulcans are my favourite race in ST. That's why I'm interested in your fleet. What should I do to enter?
I live in Europe, so I would like to know if you think it is likely for us to be able to play at the same time: I'm connected by 21h to 23 CET. Of course, if most of the fleet is located in other time zones, I doubt I could collaborate with any of you...

I am pleased that you see the soundness of the notion of a Vulcan Fleet, that treasures logic, analysis and intellect as we move into the turbulent times of 2409. Welcome!
LIke you, Vulcans are my favorite race, and like you, I chose the Science career field - my favorite aspect is tractor beams.
Here is the process you follow to join the VKF:
Visit www.vulcankolinahrfleet.com and register (link at the top of the window for an account. You will get a quick reply via email to verify your address. Click the link in that email, and you become a registered user in our forum.
Go back to the forum and log into the account you just created. Visit the Recruiting Center (link on the left-side menu) and review the articles. Then, go to the Forum (main menu link), and the Recruitment Center forum under the Administrative Wing.
Go to the thread "New Recruits - Apply to the VKF by replying to this post" and post a reply. That is your application for a commission in the VKF.
You will receive one email from me with further instructions. Basically, you wait for your application to be approved (up to 24 hours), and then log into the VKF forum with a new username (the username you used to create your account prefixed by [VKF]). By logging in with that username, you have accepted your commission in the VKF
We are a worldwide Fleet and have members in Belgium, the UK and Iceland, for example. I am in the USA (east coast), and often find myself online and in-game with Fleet-mates from there and other timezones. I believe that as gamers, we all structure our personal schedules to get in as much game time as possible, and there is always at least one (and usually 2-8) VKF members online when I am. Also, the VKF actively pursues alliances with other Federation Fleets, and that widens the circle of potential players - both in terms of being in-game and in the same sector or mission. The STO universe is large, but we always find each other. I think you will be pleased with both the availability of Fleet-mates in-game, and the comeraderie. English is our lingua franca (with some Vulcan mixed in), and we have a Vent server for voice chat. Voice chat really helps out in teaming, much faster than the Chatbox.
I truly hope that you visit our forum soon, and I know you will discover the most formidible force in STO, the VKF. Live Long and Prosper!
Thanks a lot for the info: this evening I'll visit your forum.
Tinead, how can I contact you ingame? I know I sound stupid, but I've never needed to contact anybody until now and don't have the slightest idea on how to do that...

He's Josh@Tinead, just type into your chatbox
/tell Josh@Tinead and whatever you want.
He's in-game now, I just left him in Earth Spacedock.
Once you're in the Fleet, we have a Fleet channel for chat as well as a Fleet roster so folks can more easily communicate. It's at the same place as the emotes, just above the list. Oh, and I'm Keysailor@Keysailor
That's the Character@handle, so you will be (your character's name)@Soran-di-Vulcano but once you're in the Fleet you can pick a name off the roster to send pms or tells. And the Fleet zone operates like the Team zone, (as opposed to Local) where only the Fleet sees your words.
If you have a headset, you'll find the Ventrilo voicechat to be a big improvement over the chatbox!
With thanks to Doctor Sinister and our Wing Commander Vishion for their contributions, here are the screen captures of the ceremony we held on a hill (now designated as Hill Weed743) to celebrate the life of our Fleet-mate, Weed743, who passed away recently.
Thank you to all who attended our services for our good friend and fleetmate, Jack Marshall, yesterday. There have been inquires regarding the photos taken at the service to which there are links in the messages above and there will be more coming. One program which is free to download to take pictures like these can be found at http://www.etrusoft.com/
Tonight the Vulcan High Council voted to accept two new members to the Vulcan Kolinahr Fleet. We would like to welcome Ne-lans [VKF]KaiserVonShizer and [VKF]Soran to the fleet and to wish them Peace and Long Life.
These days, most everybody is on unique schedules - our Fleet is worldwide, and I (at US EST) often find myself in-game at the same time as my Fleet-mates in GMT-0, and +8. We are a medium RP group, into logic and analysis (as you would expect from the name), and very much into helping each other both to learn about STO and in-game. We have both hardcore and casual members, are not large (but we're growing), and use vent. And, we don't have honkin big rules and qualifications tests. Our only requirement is that you contribute your knowledge about STO to the Fleet, so everybody benefits from our combined knowledge. We aren't into drama, we don't make the game less enjoyable for other players (even Klingons!) by camping, griefing, kill stealing, etc. Our goal is to enrich the in-game experience for our Fleet-mates, and live out our long-held (decades for some) fantasies about commanding a starship. Most of us grew up on ST in the various TV series and movies, although that isn't a requirement either.
So if any of this sounds interesting, come check out the VKF at www.vulcankolinahrfleet.com - regardless of your Fleet choice, look for VKF members in-game and Iknow that any of us will be happy to help out in the crunch. Live Long and Prosper!
Greetings Vice Admiral, We are honored by your visit. I'm sure you have read of our recent loss of one of our founders, but otherwise we are getting settled into the game and growing every week. We hope you and yours are well and wish you all the best. Please stop by often. Live Long and prosper.

Yes I did read that. Federation Fleet are sorry for your loss.
It is good news that you are continuing to grow.
If you would ever like assistance in game, please don't hesitate to contact me. Federation Fleet are always willing to help an ally.
It is always a pleasure to see our friends in Federation Fleet, and thank youfor your kind words.
We too are always ready to team in-game with our allies. If I see you in the sector I am cruising through, I will stop to say hello and look for teaming opportunities.
My best regards to Federation Fleet. Live Long and Prosper!
Thank you so much Ambassador. It would be a great honor for any of our members to team with you. I will publish your kind words to the fleet membership and please accept my words of appreciation for you friendship on behalf of all the fleet.
I just wanted to thank the High Council for admitting me to the Vulcan Kolinahr Fleet. I'll spend the next week or so poking around the site, and participate in earnest come the weekend.
I have been looking for a a Vulcan fleet to join and participate with and I am excited to say that I found the VKF I have just registered on the site and am about to complete the recruitment process via the site but I wanted to post and say that I am looking forward to hopefully being a part of sound logic & reasonable thought....

See you all on game! Ah, by the way, my captain's name is Soran.

Some Vulcans appear able to "cheat the grave" by implanting their katra, essentially their living essence or
spirit, into an object or another person via a form of mind-meld just prior to death. The history and
mechanics of the katra have never been discussed in great detail in canon. It was known at the time of
Surak, and Surak successfully transferred his essence into a "katric ark" which remained hidden for 1,800
years until it was recovered by a Vulcan named Syrran in the 22nd century. Syrran melded with the ark
and received Surak's katra, which guided him into creating the Syrrannite movement which fought to
restore Surak's teachings to Vulcan, but was labeled a terrorist group by the Vulcan High Command.
Syrran was fatally wounded by a lightning strike while escorting Jonathan Archer and T'Pol across a
desert region called The Forge in 2154 prior to a short-lived conflict between Vulcan and Andoria. He
conducted a forced mind-meld on Archer and implanted Surak's katra into Archer's mind before he died.
For a brief time, Archer found himself communicating with the long-dead Surak, and Surak began
controlling, or at least strongly influencing, Archer's actions. Surak's katra was so strong that it resisted
efforts to be transferred into T'Pau, but once the Syrrannites overthrew the High Command, the katra
allowed itself to be transferred into a Vulcan elder. The ultimate fate of Surak's katra remains unknown.
