Good morning, good afternoon or good evening to everyone.
I would like to put forward this idea: Transforming a ship that is already T6-X2 (that would be the condition) that is a worker or any other into a temporal ship or vice versa, this is just an example. Even ships that are not of any type (intel, temporal, worker, ...) could even be a different token to transform the ship into the type you want.
They could sell tokens for this in the game store.
What do you think of this idea?
Not gonna happen. DOA. This would interfere with them being able to develop and sell future ships. This idea has been proposed numerous times in the past, and we really should add it to the FCT.

They have to make money somehow since there is no cost for the base game or expansions, and selling different ship designs is that way. Letting you mod an existing ship would defeat that. If they offered such a token it would need to cost as much as a ship.
Also, though I might be misremembering: I think I've read the devs saying each existing version of a ship (plain, fleet, plain-X, fleet-X, plain-X2, fleet-X2) is really a separate ship in the game engine not one ship with extra things attached. In other words, they would need to pre-create extra ships for all of the different "-X3" spec choices, or 2 sets of ships if there is a fleet version.

That is correct. Code wise every variant is an entirely separate entity. So they would have to have multiple copies of everything in the game pretty much to facilitate any kind of spec swap system, which is honestly too much.
And I agree with Baddmoon. This subject should honestly be FCT material.

I've seen the idea of 2 releases, the full blown seating goodies in the lockboxes and for those who want just the skin or don't care about the powercreep, a C-store vanilla version. maybe even gimp it a little more by losing a console slot

It would still conflict, and open a whole new can of worms too.
Remember when the Inquiry came out, tied to the Avenger line but was not C-Store? That was a mess because no one could complete the Avenger set without the Inquiry all of a sudden. And it was a better ship than the Arbiter. The World Razer didn't have that problem because while it was tied to the Galaxy line, it didn't have a console that was connected to the Galaxy set.
I don't think puting the "skin" on the C-Store and "nerfing it" will go over very well. Probably end up with people confusing the two, then crying foul.

I mean we had people thinking ships that only ever were released as a "skin" where a full ship, I'd suspect that if there was full ship as lockbox ship and a "skin" or a lesser version as c-store one that issue would magnify 1000 times, with people feeling like they got cheated.
EDIT:IIRC it was the Centaur refit people thought was a full ship when it was only ever a skin and said to be so.

Exactly. People might confuse the "skin" or "nerfed version" for the one they want, find out it isn't, then raise hell.
