Am reasonably happy with the content we get with each new season. Sure there was a time where I would have liked a big expansion or more missions or TFO's way more often.. but all in all I think the devs have done a pretty good job at keeping me busy for the past 13 years or so.

not voting, because the reality is one is the only option without a MASSIVE input in talent. to achieve option 3 you would have to have 10X staff than what they have now

We know exactly why it takes longer to get new episodes and the Dev's have been abundantly clear on the reasons, so anything that arrives quicker than expected is a bonus. People seem to forget that this game has more content than most AAA games, with near 200 hours of unique content, and over 200 episodes to play.

    An expansion would be great.

I don't think the current situation is ideal. One episode every couple of months is a bit too little. Then again, I'd rather have them take their time for each episode than having episodes released such as Situation under Control, which was much too repetitive from a gameplay perspective.

Blizz is charging $40 for the upcoming expansion to Diablo IV on top of $50 for the base game.

Since STO is charging $0 for new story episodes I can accept a slower pace. I can play something else while waiting on new content.

I thought the base price for D4 was around $70... I remember reading it was kind of higher than most games these days.

I think you're right about the price when first released, but it's a year old now. $50 was the Steam price when I checked this morning.

None of the options quite encapsulate my views on the subject. I do know I don't care much for the writing; I like how the player seems to have made friends with Ezri Dax, but I wish the Aetherians would fall into a black hole. That said, content updates a little more often would be nice.

At least the Aetherians aren't the Deferi? I'm pretty sure the Deferi were not well liked because of the way they cling to Balance so hard that they'd WILLINGLY die to maintain it, even in the face of a threat like the Borg who couldn't care less about Balance. The Lukari were a LOT more well received from what I recall.

I tend to ignore the Deferi (helps their stuff is almost entirely optional these days), and I'm fine with the Lukari. The problem I have with the Aetherians is twofold: they're depicted as a little too perfect, and they distract from IMO more interesting plot threads that were brought up in recent content updates. I mean, a potential rapprochement with the Tholians of all people? That's the kind of thing that really gets my attention.

Yea... the Aetherians are a bit sus at times. Showing up the way they did in the previous mission in a bubble of "normal space" in Fluidic Space, and while the Borg King can be trying to sow distrust with his final words... can't help but wonder if there is more to the Aetherians than we know. After all we never encountered the Prime Universe versions of them. Where did they come from?

It's probably because Romulans are part of the Alliance too.

To much time between seasons and not enough content when we finally get new season
I wonder if it wouldn't make more sense to clean up what content we already have rather than adding more story missions?

Also, I think the new ships are a much bigger draw over new episodes and when the new ships come out buggy AF its VERY frustrating.

We're still waiting on a revamp to the pulled Klingon War missions where we finally deal with B'Vat.

happy with content we get each season and the time it takes to get it
The time between seasons is more or less a static element of STO over the last decade. We've had 0.5 seasons for a bit but that was with a larger team. I'm not sure why folks keep bringing this one up as the current pattern's been a consistent element of STO for the past half-decade (as the team restructuring took place for the sake of Magic Legends and stuck there after.)

DECA is planning on bringing more people on board but that's unlikely to staff STO up to high levels that allowed expansions to be made (without huge content deserts beforehand) and off-season content drops. Maybe STO gets there if the new team hits significant new growth but those complaining about content volume like it's an actionable issue (and not a symptom of deep structural economics that you can't handwave because an internet forum said so) really need to take a step back and ask what really keeps you engaged in a 14 year old legacy MMO maintaining design principles that are rare in the modern industry (ex. extremely flexible customization and crew building mechanics. Even just finding another game that lets you make custom party members is rare, doubly so one that's scifi.)

It's not the shiny new toys, it's the volume of content that's been built over the last 14 years and would never be replicated in this form today if someone was starting out fresh. It's a unique experience and your best way to tackle that is to put the focus on using what's here rather than pinning your hope on novelty and wow-factor. New stuff is a nicety, not *the* reason you stay with and champion STO. If you're tired of the same old, change your viewpoint. Do something different in leveling and try out some new challenges. STO is a hugely flexible and deeply structure game. We get new trinkets and moments with new seasons, but really try some new perspective on how "bad" not being the uber darling of the market and still capable of generating huge expansions (a la WoW or FF14) really is. It really isn't, for our niche interests, because of STO was like those games, it wouldn't have the character that sees us playing it instead of them.

Enjoy what comes, cherish what you have, because if you spent your whole time with the game looking forward you'll never appreciate what you've had and where you've been.
