We didn't get another non-alien ship until the Winter of 2021, when we got our 4th Starfleet ship, this time at T6 :
- Eisenberg Star Cruiser
Personally, I quite enjoy a lot of the alien ships we get, but when the Anniversary Event started giving Alliance 'Hybrid' ships, I've always been looking forward to see what the team come up with next...A slight buff that stresses how alien the Romulan technology is and closes the gap a bit, along with a new event ship showcasing the style of play (which is something event ships generally do, that bump of encouragement to try something outside of whatever the current meta rut is) would do wonders for the desirability of singularity core ships.
And it wouldn't take much of a buff, even if lowering the energy gap itself a bit is off the table, something like a small advantage in using torpedoes in conjunction with beam or cannon weapons could do the trick, (though I suspect that the main singularity haters are the energy-weapon-only crowd who dominate the meta clique so they would still likely complain if the buff was anything except raw energy), since the Romulans are obviously geared more to a hybrid approach. And emphasizing that hybrid schtick could be a good thing in itself since everyone and their dog have cloaks (even battlecloaks) which has eroded the Romulan uniqueness somewhat of late.
Personally, I like having two different core mechanics, switching between the two styles is part of what keeps the ship combat from getting stale and it is frustrating how everything nowadays comes out with a warp core, even the Rallus class which is supposed to be a modernization of the old Romulan Dyson Science Destroyer line but isn't since the warp core throws the whole thing out of whack with the originals.
