V.A.T.A. Chroniton Mode projectiles never hit their target

Issue: While using the universal console "Variable Auto-Targeting Armament" and firing the Chroniton projectiles while in the Strategic Maneuvering command buff, the projectiles themselves will never hit their target and will only circle around them. They only explode as a result of being targeted or getting caught in the explosion of a ship which has already been destroyed. The Quantum projectiles while in the Weapon System Efficiency command buff will hit the target consistently, it is exclusively an issue with the Chroniton projectiles.
