Gravity kills bug: can't collect Hawking particles

Like the title says, it's not possible to collect Hawking particles in Gravity Kills (normal difficulty for sure, perhaps other difficulties too).
You can fly to the particles, they can be interacted with. But as soon as the little status bar and the fly-in message of your Boff to the side of the screen inform you that you should have collected it, nothing really happens.
You can immediately collect another one, which shouldn't be possible if you actually had one (max is one particle at any given time). You don't get the little atom icon floating over your ship and you can't deliver anything or interact in any way with the Jupiter when you get within normal interaction range.
Simply put: you can't collect particles, they can't be delivered and, as a result, the mission won't progress and can't be completed.
