Taris - Apprehension

Ran into problems completing this request. I cannot say for sure the issue, but after failing the first two times and being unable to complete the mission, I completed it the third try. To make sure it wasn't an update problem, I first did a force verify on my files. Some were updated but no way to tell if they're related to Taris, and since I was successful on the last try. I have no way to know.

However, the mission requires us to capture Taris. During the battle after beaming down in Apprehension, I only noticed on the third attempt that during the battle with Arranhu and the Guards, the mission is to kill both Arranhu and the Guards. During this battle, just as I killed Arranhu, I noticed that Taris' character is red (IOW tagged as an enemy), which of course she is; however, our orders are to capture her. The first two tries, whether due to lag in the game, or other issues. Taris is red long enough to be killed either by me, or my team. I say this because the first two times I failed the mission and could not complete it. Taris was not present. She either ran off, or we killed her. I didn't think to look for her body.

The thrid time I restarted the episode, I went slower, and sacrificed my team to do so. This is when I noticed that Taris was "red" and not "blue", plus it appeared she was shooting at us! I noticed this after I killed Arranhu. But, once he was dead, she stopped firing at us. With some quick thinking, I and my team stopped shooting at her, and right in front of my eyes, her name turned blue, and she was willing to talk.

Whether these game mechanics are part of the story or not, or part of the game play... I do not know. However, I suspect that all that was required was a little bit of lag and Taris could be killed before I could speak to her. The first two times, that appeared to happen, and I could not complete the mission. Fortunately after the third attempt, and restraining my teams hatred toward her, I kept them from killing her, and afterward we were able to collect samples as evidence and proof of her guilt. We took her aboard our ship and then turned her over to starfleet who came to help us after we beamed out of the crater. Personally, I thought it was tedious, a bit adereniline jarring, but a whole lot of fun figuring that out.

Is this a bug? Perhaps. Can it be fixed without breaking it further. While it would be nice if Taris didn't shoot at us, it sure made things interesting. Plus, in the end, it was one of the first adventures where I really felt a little captain's intuition was helpful in fullfilling my obligation to starfleet and capture her. Of course, I chose to be diplomatic with Sela, where that will get me I certainly have no idea. But, after a 5 year haitus from STO, I'm glad to be back. So many paths, so many endings! ;-) Bug or not; I was happy to complete the mission this way!

Nevertheless, a bug in this episode has been reported for at least three years. <=Link to one report in Reddit.

P.S. Ignore the [Interact] with the center console, it's a decoy! I've attached an image of the last step before completion! Taris is in the brig at this point!
