Datachips are unsearchable...

I reported this as a bug, they confirm it, and ask me to post about it so other people can chime in.
*Edit: the images uploaded out of order. Sorry. Working on my phone and can't figure out how to put them in correct order.* 😖
First image: the datachip in my inventory. The search bar is "closed."
Second image: the search bar is "open" but without anything typed in it. The datachip is darkened!
Third image: I have typed "datachip." Everything is dark, including the datachip.
I typed "data" and a datapad, now next to the datachip, is bright. The datachip is dark.
Does this happen with other datachips, or just New Rom ones? (I was giving some to a friend with a messy inventory and they could not find them via search.)
