Equipping new phaser omni

Unable to equip:
[Omni-Directional Protostar Phaser Beam Array [Acc] [Arc] [Dmg] ∞]
with it saying "You cannot equip more than 1 items of that category."
The only Omni I have equipped at the moment is a crafted:
[Omni-Directional Phaser Beam Array Mk XV [Ac/Dm] [Acc] [Arc] [CrtH] [Dmg]]

Yeah, it appears you can't equip this one with a crafted omni, but you can equip it with another one from a set like the Trilithium-Enhanced omni from the mission Beyond the Nexus.
