there is a difference between being controversial and being woke. being controversial was arguing for an idea. woke is just adding the latest trend to be that.. trendy. to be controversial today would be to face off the conflicts of the LGBTQ community with other parts of society.. the idea. WOKE is throwing in the LGBTQ characters because there is a checkbox that needs to be ticked. Dico had the doc and engineer as couple.. did very little with it.. controversy opportunity lost. Picard was woke when they checked the box and Seven was suddenly TRIBBLE
That's... what the right wing wants you to think "woke" means, so they can belittle progressive thought. Same thing they do with "socialism", so they can claim no socialist country has ever succeeded (while northern Europe gazes back in collective puzzlement). "Woke" originated as an expression in AAVE, indicating someone who was awake to societal imbalances - you know, like classic Star Trek.

I'll just add my 2 ECs before telling you guys to let that particular debate go.
Woke has been used improperly to basically be an attack on anything not liked. Its being used as a trigger word meant to invoke rage against something. The true meaning is far different from its current use. Label something as "Woke" that you oppose, these days you're guaranteed to get blind support for your cause because of culture war rage mode.
So lets just move on from that subject.
(Also I kept it as neutral as possible because there are three things you should avoid discussing in public: Politics, Religion... and Omi's Head. )
I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!

What you said there is Total Bull the idea of making Seven Bi was not to make a check box Star Trek was always about exploring new ideas its wrong when creating a character that was establish to be straight white Asian or black then make them another race TRIBBLE or trans just to check the box for an example Power Rangers 2017 or He-Man Revelations when they made King Grayskull Black. The thing with Seven of Nine we only explored little of her sexuality on Voyager and she only begun to explore her self so it could make sense that she can be either be a TRIBBLE or Bi she was a Drone half of her life. Star Trek as always leaving the door open for possibilities for other characters like Garek being TRIBBLE and having a crush on Basher or Jadzia being A sexual according to Terry Farrell. Seven her self is an exception with the Check Box again because at the end of Voyager she only started to understand her feelings and emotions and her sexual desires after all by the end of Voyager she was only started to be more human when the series ended

I'm quite happy that it is still going on!
