My confusion was coming from that there is a Klingon Defense Force faction and a Klingon Defense Force allegiance. Thank you, good to be clear on it now ;]
You'll also see what activities unlock account-wide rewards. These can be collected by visiting the various Temporal Agents on ESD, Qo'noS and the Romulan Flotilla on your other characters.
Start a new KDF character and do the tutorial to receive a special transceiver that goes into your inventory. Make sure you get this item (!)
To use the transceiver just right click it and select use. It will open up and display tasks and allow your recruit to claim awards.
Account wide rewards can be claimed on other characters from their faction's temporal contact.
To get the complimentary M'Chla Bird of Prey Refit complete the mission Bringing Down the House and kill Uljun.
It's really going to help playing the missions like a Klingon (this makes sense ) as ambush kills (space) and melee kills (ground) are rewarded.
So getting accustomed to using your Bat'leth (or other bladed weapon) is important as is practicing decloaking and ambushing enemy ships in space.
Ground tip: your away team can generate threat with their energy weapons which can make it more difficult to target enemies with your Bat'leth during missions. Some things that can help is to turn your away team to passive so they don't attack (they'll still be able to heal and buff you with their supportive skills) OR try giving them melee weapons as well.
Space tip: the M'Chla BOP is a nice ship well suited to the task but it hasn't got a lot of hull. I like to equip mine with dual and dual heavy cannons front and turrets rear in order to maximize the amount of damage done after decloaking behind the enemy. The best fight in a light ship is one that is over quickly
Starting a tactical recruit might be a handy way of doing the most damage quickly and more often...
Hope this helps. If you have any questions just ask.
