The injury panel so far at least on ground before when you died and you open the panel your current character or ship is automatically selected and shown after today's patch is still indeed auto selected but not shown and you have to manually select yourself from the drop down for it to display and allow you to heal.
In space it wasn't working at all it would show an enemy ship and not your own and there was no drop down at all. I had to wait until the tfo had ended and to to ESD to repair even though I had hundreds of of the repair mats on hand.
