Bad Money Glitch

I was playing Star Trek Online on the Xbox Series X & I noticed that every hour & 20 minutes later my energy credits were being deducted for no reason, for example I was at 107,000 credits & then i check almost an hour & 45 minutes later I was down to 12,000 but I never made any purchases at all, & all ive been doing is leveling up & these deductions have happened 9 different times, please investigate this as soon as possible

Well, that certainly is odd, but you'll need to provide some additional information in order for this to be investigated:

When posting please include the following information:
    • Charactername@handle
    • Last map you were in (if applicable)
    • Map you were going to (if applicable)
    • What the issue is
    • What steps you already tried when attempting to resolve your issue (if applicable)

You say all you have been doing is leveling up. Leveling up how exactly? Playing missions? DOFFing? What was going on/were you doing at the time that you noticed your EC was depleted? What was going on/were you doing right before that?

Levelling up Reputations can be a surprising drain on EC - especially if that particular character doesn't have much to begin with.

I've been doing patrol missions only to level up, my characters name is Jack Harris, The patrol missions I've been doing r, Rescue & Search( Kern System), Strike at Seedea( Seedea System), The Ninth Rule( Kinjer System) & whenever I'm done with doing the patrols, i would load up my bridge which is the origins bridge & then I would get my rewards from my duty officers & then I would look at my EC account after collecting the rewards to see what amount I have then I would leave my bridge to start the patrols again & I mainly stay at the Starfleet SOL system map & like I said before after about an hour & 20 minutes I would notice a deduction of EC but I haven't done any purchases.

Some Duty Officer missions do cost EC. I'm wondering if that is where your EC is going.

  • Yes but I always do the free duty officer missions, u see I've been playing this game on the PS4 for 3 years & this has never happened before. My EC only gets deducted whenever I make a purchase for example my EC on the PS4 version is 73,000 & 2 hours later its still there at the same amount. But the Xbox Series X version is different cause an hour to 2 hours later EC is deducted automatically without a purchase. So if one of your team members can look into this I would appreciate it.

Are you doing Rep missions as well as they cost a lot of EC for each.
  • No I'm doing only patrol missions

Are you doing your Reputation projects, because that's exactly what it looks like you've done. Duty Officer projects also have an EC cost for some things.
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.

Doing a levelling project for each reputation is 15,000 EC per 20-hour project.
For all 12 (or is it 11?) reputations, this will drain 180,000 EC from your characters' balance.
Three of us have tried to point this out to you, now...

If so, then this is incredibly weird behaviour indeed.
Your best option here is to try and replicate the issue and illustrate it with screenshots and/or a video showing it happening.

  • Hey sorry for going dark cause my work schedule is so crappy but I was playing Star Trek Online on the Xbox Series X again yesterday & the EC money glitch is still there cause I was at 93,000 EC & an hour & a couple minutes later I was at 43,000 EC, has this money glitch been investigated yet??

If memory serves me correctly and it is probably wrong, Transwarping used to cost EC, I do not know if this is still the case or even if I'm right about that fact but a part of me is sure that used to be the case.

    Transwarping used to cost EC...
The EC cost for Mission Transwarps was removed quite some time ago - even before STO appeared on consoles.

We're just your fellow players and as such, we are trying to figure this out for you.
There's a discrepancy of 50,000 EC in your description, which corresponds to the amount of EC required to run one of the Satellite Turret duty officer missions from the Diplomacy/Marauding category.

Your best bet here, is to start keeping a very close eye on your EC balance. Check it often, and if you notice it disappearing, scroll right back through your chat/log window as there will be entries detailing where EC went.
"You lost XXXXX Energy Credits" would likely appear but the entries immediately above/below will let you know where that EC actually went.

If you still cannot track it down, record a video of 10 minutes or so of playing and watch it back carefully. Perhaps share some screenshots or even share your video via YouTube (or other video site) and we can try to help you understand what's happening.
