Both the Backup Shield Batteries trait from the Jarok carrier as well as the Trauma Response trait from the Nobel science ship suffer from the same bug. It boils down to the traits only taking the shield array of the ship into account when they are calculating how much shield capacity is restored (Backup Shield Batteries trait) or how much shield capacity is added (Trauma Response trait). Any additional shield capacity modifier from consoles or traits are completely ignored. Here are the descriptions of both traits:
For the team to be able to recreate the bugs, I attached several screenshots of my traits, equipment, etc. I purposely pushed my shield capacity as high as I could (roughly 100k) to show the stark difference the bug causes.
As per the trait's description, Trauma Response should give
+50% Max Shield Capacity at 10 stacks. As you can see on the screenshots, I have roughly 100k without Trauma Response and at 10 stacks I have only received roughly 10k more for a total of 110k. That's not even close to 50%.
As per the trait's description, Backup Shield Batteries should
fully restore a shield facing when a shield is depleted. The screenshot was taken a moment after the trait was triggered and the trait restored roughly 25k of the forward shield. That is 1/4th of the 100k shield facing, so not even close to fully restoring it as it claims in the description.
With all the latest additions to the game, it is obvious that the team tries to bring more shield focused mechanics into the game. That is certainly needed as shields are not in a very good positions in today's meta. Fixing these bugs will no doubt help.
