Game locking up/Freezing on Xbox

captainpostcaptainpost Member Posts: 38 Arc User
The game started locking up on my Xbox series X today. It will lock up and I will have to go out to dashboard and close the game. Is this happening for others? I am on Risa when it happens randomly.

Ever since I started playing on my Series X there have been more crashes than on my old Xbox One. It usually freezes with a 'Not responding' red line of death text in the top centre of my screen for a few seconds, before kicking me out. Interestingly when it happens, Xbox Live appears to have disconnected too. After a few seconds Live reconnects automatically, and I'm able to reboot the game. It happens on a regular basis, and doesn't appear to matter where I happen to be in the game. Since the summer event has started these crashes do appear to have increased in frequency.

On the upside map changes load faster than on Xbox One, so I carry on regardless, but the crashes are annoying, not to mention the rubber-banding, which has been noticeable on ground and in space in all sorts of locations.

Yeah I've had the red line of death a few times. But this problem has only happened to me on Risa. The game will just stop and freeze and I will have to close it in the dashboard. I can still play thankfully but it just sucks spending so much money on a game to have it be this buggy.

Does it occasionally on Xbox One too, Neverwinter is the same.

I suspect it's tied to the server shenanigans. Was very stable before Gearbox took over.

I can't say I've seen the type of freeze you describe on Risa, although I have when on the loading screen for a new map generally in-game. The progress bar stops part way though and never moves again no matter how long you wait, causing you to have to manually exit to dashboard to quit and reload the game. In my experience though, that's a much more rare occurrence than the 'red line of death' ejection.

Perhaps all of these are to do with it being such an old (frequently patched) game and old servers causing conflicts with more modern devices as much as anything, but you would hope there was something that could be done to mitigate it somewhat.

Yet another post of 'oh hey support team, there is a performance issue'. Well done. Glad yall made it to the forums. Next time please dont wait a whole month to speak up. The more people say hey there is a problem, the more likely we are to be taken serious..
