Cryomancer build

nixie50nixie50 Member Posts: 1,347 Arc User
I have a lever 25 sciguy that I want to make into a cryomancer. I blan on using the breen set from WW, the pistol seems to be very effective. also from the WW, the cryo grenade and endothermic. the third module is currently the sompek lightning. Is there a better kit frame than the breen one?
I was thinking only the 2 pc, the pistol and armor, maybe 3 pc with the frame. I was considering the second weapon and the Nakul shield 2pc.

so the questions..

Breen frame or is one of the risa ones better?
2 pc nakul shield weapon worth it?
any other modules I should consider?

    For reference:

    https://sto.fandom.com/wiki/Andorian_Cold_Weather_Operations_Kit_Frame

At this point it seems like the Breen frame has the advantage due to higher kit performance which is key.
The two-piece nah'kul is useful and it can certainly give some breathing room in the midst of combat, but in the end it depend on you plays tyle which is best for you.

Which kit modules primarily depends on your play style.
For some cold options once you get to level 65, look at the ground sets in the Nukara Reputation.
Also look at the mission reward: CRM-2000
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Aside from the whole 3 piece sets from nukara which are situational, the weapons are interesting by itself:

    https://sto.fandom.com/wiki/Refractive_Bulwark#Nukara_Strikeforce_Elite_Cryo_Full_Auto_Rifle

    https://sto.fandom.com/wiki/Crystalline_Nanofiber_Shell#Hyper-compressed_Cryo_Launcher

Both are doing cold damage with the potential freeze effect etc. Just look at the sets and determine if it suits your play style.

If you like to freeze your opponents with e.g. cold fusion and then pummel them, the sword from the nukara rep may suit you:

I did testing on an older toon, the Nukara autorifle puts out more damage (vs tholians) than the crm. I'll have to pop over to the sphere or defera and test there. the one real drag about the crm is the INSANE delay as the secondary charges

Defera may not be the best place to test since the Borg adapt to cold damage.

Personally i like the CRM due to the freeze effect which occurs quite frequently.

Actually the mission cold storage is still available:
    https://sto.fandom.com/wiki/Mission:_Cold_Storage

Open mission journal (fast key J) and look at available tab. It should be almost on top.

Edit: It used to become available after the borg storyline. Perhaps it is simply not yet unlocked for your lvl25 sci

The Breen arc doesn't unlock until level 65 and The Galaxy at Large/Duties of Command/Neutral no More has been completed.
Like special weapons from other Star Trek games? Wondering if they can be replicated in STO even a little bit? Check this out: https://forum.arcgames.com/startrekonline/discussion/1262277/a-mostly-comprehensive-guide-to-star-trek-videogame-special-weapons-and-their-sto-equivalents

Missed that one. Then again i usually only start mission reward hunting after my char is level 65.
