Some Tellarite Beard and Moustache options allow the top lip and/or chin to show through.
Beards and Moustaches don't work like that - they are an outer covering for the lips and chin offering protection from wayward food crumbs and the lesser-known high-speed-cocktail.
They also offer greatly increased impact resistance against road vehicles, but this is relatively unknown due to the rest of the body having no protection from such incidents.
