is the joystick option gone forever ?

Months ago, I put in a support ticket when I found I could no longer map joystick functions.
ANYONE have joystick still working? I had just completed a way to make the throttle actually work using keymapping and logitech / Saitek software to translate analogue to keypresses.

if it's gone forever at least remove the reference or would that cause a cascade failure of the whole game client?

I have never used a joystick for the game, so unless someone else comes along with better knowledge, or unless I get more ambitious to look up the history of the problem, I can only give you the ballpark story based on my recollection:

About a year ago the Joystick controls broke for STO. Customers who put in support tickets were eventually told that “joysticks were no longer supported by STO.” And no official news came up about it.

However, maybe 4 or 5 months ago in one of the 10-Forward livestreams someone said one of the developers was (again or perhaps for the first time) looking into trying to figure out the joystick issue.

Now is just the really, really speculative stuff: I think there may be a way to keybind virtual keyboards with STO and wonder if there is a joystick that could do that too.

@coyt What do you mean by Joystick? Like a flight-stick? Or like a ps4 controller because that technically has joysticks.
