Game crashes and locks up PC when closing the game

I am now forced to Download the full game once again due to the game crashing and locking up when I try and close the game. I exit the game as normal and I get a black screen. I cannot see anything other than the games black screen, even Alt Tab just shows windows open, if I have any, and using the Windows Key just opens the menu.
I have tried using Ctrl + ALT + DEL to bring up the task manager, but the same issue happens yet again, I cannot access it because of the crappy black screen produced by STO. This has been getting worse since the last patch/update. For the last few days the game hung on the log out window, but I could close the game via Task Manager, however this is not ideal when a game like this is faulty.
I have played for only 6 years and have enjoyed every minute, but how can I play a game which is now so bugged I don't even know if it will close down correctly. This issue had started last week, and after yesterdays issue, gotten to the point where I cannot even play without wondering if I have to restart my PC.
Before anybody says that its my PC I will say this. Last month I did not have any trouble playing the game, I did not suffer lag, I did not suffer log in problems, and I didn't have to reinstal the game. My system meets the requirements of the game, and more.
The game has become so dodgy that I cannot recommend it to anybody until it is fixed.

Game crashes when trying to close the game. I reinstalled the game after completely removing all files via uninstallers and CClean. Still having the same problem but clearly nobody is interested as others seem to not have this issue.
As a life time subscriber I may as well wait for the next update which will break the game even more.
Have you noticed how they are ignoring this bug. I am getting this issue upon 90% of closing the game. I could have other programs running and it will close, I could then have the same programs running and it will crash. Its not as if its a set program that its crashing on as I could be just running STO and it will crash.
I end up using Ctrl+Alt+Del just to close STO, and some how I do not think the game is designed to work this way. It needs fixing, but like EVERYTHING in STO it never gets fixed, and I can still see parts of the game which are still broken 4 years after they were broken.
Life time subscriber, long time disappointed by lack of care or fixing bugs.
This should not be the answer to closing the game. They should fix the problem and not do anything about it. We the customer should have a working game which doesn't need us, the customer, to have to fix their bad coding. There are still parts of the game which have not been fixed in 3+ years, so do we really expect this to be fixed?
The question is, would you recommend a broken game to your friends if they have to use Ctrl+Alt+Del to go into task master just to close the game?
I agree that this isn't the answer (in my defense: I also did not even attempt to say that it was); this is merely a temporary workaround, but I'm on board with the sentiment that THIS definitely does need to be addressed and fixed in full at last.
