After spending YEARS throwing money at this game, getting the best of the best of the best everything ground , and in space, reputations, ELITE CAPTAIN, EPIC EVERYTHING - STILL dying over and over in ground & in space newest episodes. YEARS wasting time doing the BEST to get THE BEST, still dying in the latest episodes OVER AND OVER!...
You, tell me? How is this game NOT a complete WASTE OF TIME, and MONEY?!?!?!?
The problem is not the game but likely your setup. If you are drying over and over then you are doing something wrong. Its hard to say what without seeing your setup. Perhaps you can explain what gear you are using? Its not right to blame the game when its not the games fault. Instead try to figure out what is wrong in your in build and fix it. Are you playing normal or Elite? What type of build?

Your response is as predictable as I expected if not exactly.
"You have elite EVERYTHING, spent YEARS on top tier reputations, T6X ship, elite captain...SPENT YEARS (4 to 5 of) and it is not the game's fault but YOURS!"
If I spend 5 years sifting though every elite build, and STILL resulting in dying over & over on both ground and space latest episodes, me thinks - nah, it is NOT me.
Game seems geared to making you lose no matter how hard you've spent years building, and spending money on the elite.
If I spent YEARS doing anything, and by the end of 4 or 5 years later I'm still sucking at it, me thinks the system is not winnable- thusly made to lose (die over and over) regardless of build, gear, or whatever.
"It's YOUR FAULT, your character dies over and over in space and ground with elite epic everything."
As predictable a response as - I say: "light." and You say: "no dark"
Firstly, check what difficulty you're set to. If you're set to elite then that might be your issue.
All content in the game is easily clearable with a baseline T6/T5U and purple Mk XII gear and a keybind so literally your only interaction with the game is to steer and spam spacebar. Including the new episodes/TFOs.
Having a DPRM and gold gear on a Vaadwaur Juggernaut is not the recipe for success in this game, it's a recipe for climbing the DPS charts in a single, highly situational TFO that doesn't reflect the gameplay of episodes or even other TFOs.
If I spend 5 years sifting though every elite build, and STILL resulting in dying over & over on both ground and space latest episodes, me thinks - nah, it is NOT me.
No, it definitely IS your build, that is FAR more important than getting all your gear to epic.
If I spent YEARS doing anything, and by the end of 4 or 5 years later I'm still sucking at it, me thinks the system is not winnable- thusly made to lose (die over and over) regardless of build, gear, or whatever.
If it was not winnable then we would ALL be having this problem, but we are not.
I rarely spend a dime on this game, my setup is not nearly as elite as the elite players and I don't die over and over in ground or space. Granted, I die on ground more than I do in space, but not over and over.
I sometimes even use my T5-U ship for space endeavors when I do them. I have some setup for certain energy types so I can just swap ships.
ATM I'm running in the Winter Event ship.
People are trying to help, if all you can do is rant about it then the thread will be closed by the mods.
I do have a question. Are you running normal, advanced or elite difficulty. I run normal and skate through it. I know I can run advanced, but not elite. I just choose to run normal to have the most fun without dying over and over because I'm not elite-ready.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything.
Hey, OP. Calm down. The people here are actually taking their time to figure out what the problem is and help you out. If you're going to continue to rant and attack those trying to help you, I will shut this down.

because if you're CONSTANTLY dying the problem is indeed with you. I'm in mostly MK XIIs and I do just fine. I'm not game ace, so tell us what your set up is and maybe we can help?
Post your setup/build and lets see what we can do to help you. All gold everything isn't as helpful as it seems. There are many layers to "good" builds. and Having gold gear is probably the least important of them. This community has a lot of very smart members who'd love to help you. Help them help you.

As baddmoon said, people are trying to help you figure out what is going on.
So please take a deep breath, and give some details as to the build. I hate to say it but you could give many players mk XV Epic gear, and you're going to have all kinds of results based on the player. Gear alone does not mean anything if the build it is on does not support it, or the player doesn't know how to use it.
The main information needed is:
Ship
Gear
BOff abilities
From there we can start figuring out what the core issue is.
Let us help you figure this out. But as baddmoon said, if the goal is purely to rant and rave, then there is no point and the thread will be closed.
I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!

I noticed that after a few patches ago normal/adv difficulties the mobs are pretty much doing the same damage(I have tons of parses to compare my performance and I'm taking more damage in some patrols, like "The Ninth rule" and others where you can fight Mo'kais and Hirogen mobs), the significant difference is their offensive loadout and hp/hull pool.
If you use a very glass cannon build, without any heals and or debuff cleaners you will have a hard time.
I usually chew through mobs on adv/elite, but the demented design of "put all the debuffs we can and make every enemy navy full of Scie captains so they can spam subnucleonic beam" and no diminishing returns to reduce their effectiveness can be very frustrating, not to mention mobs using the wrong skills, 360° torpedo tubes on enemy ships, and the devs never fixing/balancing them is pretty aggravating.
Check your build, put some heals, for space "Landry's Loyalty" https://sto.fandom.com/wiki/Trait:_Landry's_Loyalty can be a lifesaver against the mobs who are constantly spamming debuffs like sub nuc beam 24/7. I can only imagine if in a MMO like WoW or FF 14 mobs had skills like sub nuc beam and you had packs of them spamming that vs the players without any chance to resit or some diminishing returns how would be the absolute meltdown on the forums but here, "meh" nobody cares. Says a lot about the playerbase of this game and the quality of who design stuff here. Debuff spam is bad design 101, period.

Hirogen and Breen mobs are a little weird because they have very old abilities that don't behave like normal abilities, such as a cooldown debuff that cant be resisted or removed. It's a hangover from the very early game and both species NPCs could use a combat overhaul.

Your gear can't play the game for you.
What Pottsey was trying to say is... tell us what it is you are trying to do, build wise, trait wise. Perhaps someone can help you, rather then join you in a pity party.
Take a screen shot of your ship/ground builds, and post em here. I'm sure a few others can give you a handful of tips. Perhaps one of them turns things around for you. No judging, no shaming... if your missing something I can't tell you without knowing what it is you are doing. Who knows perhaps your doing something that make someone else including myself think of a new way of doing something.

Science Team clears the Breen and Hirogen debuff.
I use it all the time in those battles so my cool downs don’t become ridiculous.

Lots of people including myself play on Elite as the default setting and we have no problems. I run though the most new missions without drying on Elite. The game is not at fault nor is it geared to spending money to play Elite. I spent no money to play Elite.
99% of the time when I see a post like yours it turns out to be the build or the way that player is using the build. If you think the system is not winnable then it is very likely you are doing something wrong as lots of other players prove there isn’t a problem. Regardless of build, gear, or whatever.
Post your build, perhaps we can spot the weak area that is causing problems and we can tweak it so it works. Or if time zones match I am sure one of us can take you into Elite and talk you though how to do with.
For years many of us have had Elite as our default settings and I use what are classed as weak weapon systems and lower-level builds without a problem. 100% the game is not geared to making you lose or needing to spend money. You don't need a top end DPS build to play Elite without problems.
If I spend 5 years sifting though every elite build, and STILL resulting in dying over & over on both ground and space latest episodes, me thinks - nah, it is NOT me.

I know you don't want to hear this but simply because you've been playing for 5 years doesn't mean you've known what you're doing for those 5 years. You can play for any amount of time but if you're using bad tactics and bad builds, it doesn't matter how long you've been playing, you're going to have a rough time. I've seen people come into this game who have been playing less than 2 years that can blitz through elite content like it's barely even a challenge. On the opposite side of that coin, I've seen people pull the "I've been here since beta" card yet die to normal mode NPCs 18 times in a single mission. Just because you're having issues doesn't automatically mean the system is unwinnable.
Next, simply slapping all gold gear on your ship doesn't do you any good if the build isn't coherent and is all over the place, especially if you're playing anything above normal difficulty. While there's no such thing in this game as an objective winner takes all "best" build, there are builds that are objectively more effective at others in reaching certain goals of damage and survival. There are also certain tactics that are objectively more effective than others.
As to what your issues in particular are, the first thing you ALWAYS check when you're having issues with a certain mission or enemy is the build. Certain build types simply don't work that well against certain foes sometimes either due to mechanics, potential pilot error, or both. We've all been there at one point or another trying to figure out what works best for us and how to take down certain foes so you're not the only one who has ever had issues. Having issues doesn't make you bad at the game, it means you need to step back and look at your build and tactics because something clearly isn't working. For all we know your build could be fine and you need to adjust how you approach certain foes. If it is your build then it could be as simple as adding in an extra heal or two.
With all that said, I'm going to make you a one time offer that I don't make to people too often on these forums. If you would like help figuring out what's wrong, I will help you out personally. I will sit down with you and go over your build and tactics to find the root cause of your problems. If your build needs to be adjusted I will make recommendations on what to change and explain why I am recommending those changes to help you understand the mechanics behind it better. If your tactics need to be adjusted, I recommend a better approach to the foes you're fighting. If there is some sort of bug or issues with the game itself that are discovered, I will forward a report on to the appropriate folks for said bug to be fixed. Otherwise I will have to assume you're simply posting this thread to rant and don't actually want help and we will treat this thread accordingly.
Do you want help from myself or someone here? If you do I will gladly help you here in thread, through PMs or in-game if need be. Or do you want to rant? the choice is yours.

Yes, that's what I'm planning on doing taking a big break from STO.
I'd have to do screen shots of my stuff, and copy paste all my sets, but that's not what I want to do.
I have all of everything, and it seems the newer episodes always seem to be a problem. Older episodes, never a problem, but newer episodes massive lag, sequencing off stuff triggering out of sequence. I find that I'm getting damage both ground, and in space much faster before I can react.
It's made me very mad to being spending so much time with ship and ground that normally does well until I thrust myself into newer episodes seeing everything drastically weaker, than normal.

Lag can be caused by a number of different things. Usually it's something between your rig and the servers. So first thing I would do is check your rig to eliminate that as a cause. If stuff is triggering out of sequence that's a macro problem and an easy fix. For the issues with the episodes, if you're only having issues with the newer episodes, this signals tactics problem to me. As to "having all of everything" it doesn't matter what you have if you don't know how to utilize it properly for the fight you're going into. Gear alone doesn't make you successful in game.
For your stuff, you don't have to do perfect screenshots, so long as we know what you have. If you have as much as you say you have, then it shouldn't take long at all to adjust your builds and tactics. If you think you need to take a break then take a break. But if you keep doing the same things you're doing now when you come back from that break, you're not going to be any better off than you are now. If you really want help, the question is if you want to do the work now or later.
If you're having issues with survival, I specialize as a tank in this game and I can assure you there's ways you can pick up survival without sacrificing overall damage. Once again, the question is if you really want help and to succeed or not.

Screenshots are easier now that the forums have their own photo posting feature so there's no longer any need to use Imgur or other hosting service.
What works for me is the Print Screen button to copy the in-game screen to the clip board, paste to Microsoft Paint for cropping, and then saving the photo. Clicking on the "attach image" button above your post brings up an option to choose a photo file.
OP,
Before you say anything you may truly regret, hear me out.
As I was in the same boat yesterday with a couple alts that i ran through the missions, i found all of a sudden i was getting stomped and thought what the hell..
I brought up my traits tab and found nearly half of all ground traits were blank, I stayed out of combat mode and had to replace what was missing.
Then when i entered the space portions of missions, half my gear on ship was greyed out, it was not until i was out of red alert that i was able to run my cursor across them and they lit back up and was able to use. also certain space traits had been removed and had to replace them as well, it was quite a clusterduck of runs, but i put it down simply to something going wrong with patching and the launch of new things that sent everyone into a tailspin with what had transpired on the server ends..
Put simply, it was not your fault...
/sigh... assuming this is not a very bad troll or a meltdown...
Dude, I hate to put it this way, but if what you're saying is true, and you're not simply dying a few times unexpectedly to new slightly more difficult content, that you haven't worked out the missions yet, which is normal, then you have to be missing something major regarding the mechanics and your setup. STO is an elder game that has long suffered a comfortable degree of power creep. It's generally fairly hard to die once you figure out how the various pieces of your build interact. It's not simply getting what you perceive to be the best or most epic gear. Nor is it improving things randomly up to epic quality. It's putting it all together as a cohesive whole. There are people that can explain this much better than me, some of them hang out over on redit at r/stobuilds they have what is called the "babysteps guide to sto" which explains some of the basic (and undocumented) build strategies and synergy's.
A few quick things to check, if you are dying often
1. Killing stuff before it kills you is the first step in not dying. In Space have you standardized your weapons to use the same energy type? No Rainbow Boats.
2. Once selecting an Energy Type for weapons have you used every Tactical Console slot to seat a console that boosts that specific energy type?
3. Check your character interface have your traits been deselected (it can happen)
4. Have you trained all of your skill points?
While you will want to eventually improve your main gear to Mark XV Epic, you should be able to easily mow down pretty much anything in Normal Mode at lvl 65 with Mark XII Very Rare quality gear. And maybe even start to run things on Advanced.

If you use a passive regen build you don't need time to react as its automatic both on ground and in space. Due to bad joints I cannot react as fast as I used to and so use passive builds. It doesnt matter how slow I am the passive build will stop us being killed. All the core items are free in game without requiring money. It sounds like you are under tanking your ship and ground build and need to make some small improvements so that you don't get killed before you react. If you don't want to share your build that's fine,
Here is the template for my passive hull and shield build. Its not complete this is the the base line that can be further tweaked as needed.
Matrix Shield to automatic balance shields with x4 regen mods
x2 Part Stamets-Tilley set for automatic passive hull regen.
Run at some decent shield power and use EPtS 2 or 3 for resistance and to max out shield power.
If you have it fit a Voth power core console if you don't have it a few Xenotech Resilience Modules or use both. Your now on or very near max shield resistance.
Now you have strong shields that automatically balance, automatically heal, max or near max resistance along with strong hull that automatically heal.
If you still have problems a few Pax Nanite Reinforcement sci consoles and Pax consoles for the engineering slots to boost hull resistance and passive tanking.
That's one way. A more active way is to fit the colony tactical consoles and Hull Refractors. Now every time you trigger bridge officer powers you get temp hitpoints. This builds up to 200k+ extra hitpoints buffer on top of your basic hull and heals hull.
Both these builds will survive just about anything PvE without even factoring in traits, doffs, Human Bridge officers which can further make the tank stronger.

Judging by your lack of effort to even consider the fact you could just need to tweak your setup, and accept the efforts of the community which you reached out to for aid, I would say it's safe to say we found your problem.
Boff synergy is a big deal too. having equipment doesn't mean a hill of beans if it just "BIG LIGHT GO BOOM BOOM" and 4 tac BOFFs. I would take a look at away team setups.
Also idk what having the best and most expensive stuff will get you in ground, Most setups I see use rep gear and mission rewards, with maybe some lockbox kit modules, but event rewards will get you by for sure.
I am no pro. I am not crunching numbers and comparing what I have to what others are doing. I am not chasing the new hotness at all times. I certainly do not have all gold everything.
And I am not constantly dying.
So there may well be a problem but it's not that the game is impossible.
If you want help OP, it has been offered. A very real possibility (trait wipe) has been mentioned and is definitely worth checking out.
But a lot of these folks legitimately want to help, and some of them really know their stuff.
If you want help it's here for the taking.
If you don't take it? That is 100% on you, just as the in-game issues you claim to have are.
I die. this new mission I died like twice in space once on the ground. is the game too hard? no, I wasn't paying attention. are there some elements that are pure BS? absolutely. I've been caught in tractors that strip my hull in like 6 seconds.
if you are confident your build is as good as it can be, then you need to look at your tactics. if you have a narrow weapons arc (cannon build escort) you cannot wade into the middle of a dozen enemies and expect to win, where a BFAW tank cruiser does exactly that. if you are in an EPG and or torpedo boat or carrier, you should not be within 6 KM of the target, except a flight deck carrier, they have the weapons to get in close.
everyone else said it. without seeing your build we can't help. and where are you dying? are you getting nose to nose with a Deriderp? they will tractor you and hi yield plasma you to death pretty darn quick, their torpedoes are definitely ship killers for a smaller ship..
so post up what you got. you can create your build at STOAcademy.com they we can all give you ideas, both the meta and the out of the box thinking

Having a DPRM and gold gear on a Vaadwaur Juggernaut is not the recipe for success in this game, it's a recipe for climbing the DPS charts in a single, highly situational TFO that doesn't reflect the gameplay of episodes or even other TFOs.
It's almost certainly an issue with your build.
No, it definitely IS your build, that is FAR more important than getting all your gear to epic.
If it was not winnable then we would ALL be having this problem, but we are not.
I just choose to run normal to have the most fun without dying over and over because I'm not elite-ready.

because if you're CONSTANTLY dying the problem is indeed with you. I'm in mostly MK XIIs and I do just fine. I'm not game ace, so tell us what your set up is and maybe we can help?

So please take a deep breath, and give some details as to the build. I hate to say it but you could give many players mk XV Epic gear, and you're going to have all kinds of results based on the player. Gear alone does not mean anything if the build it is on does not support it, or the player doesn't know how to use it.
The main information needed is:
From there we can start figuring out what the core issue is.
Let us help you figure this out. But as baddmoon said, if the goal is purely to rant and rave, then there is no point and the thread will be closed.
normal text = me speaking as fellow formite
colored text = mod mode
What's the worst that can happen.

Science Team clears the Breen and Hirogen debuff.
I use it all the time in those battles so my cool downs don’t become ridiculous.

That is 100% on you, just as the in-game issues you claim to have are.
if you are confident your build is as good as it can be, then you need to look at your tactics. if you have a narrow weapons arc (cannon build escort) you cannot wade into the middle of a dozen enemies and expect to win, where a BFAW tank cruiser does exactly that. if you are in an EPG and or torpedo boat or carrier, you should not be within 6 KM of the target, except a flight deck carrier, they have the weapons to get in close.
everyone else said it. without seeing your build we can't help. and where are you dying? are you getting nose to nose with a Deriderp? they will tractor you and hi yield plasma you to death pretty darn quick, their torpedoes are definitely ship killers for a smaller ship..
so post up what you got. you can create your build at STOAcademy.com they we can all give you ideas, both the meta and the out of the box thinking
