    And there's another issue here.
You didn't specify this was on console, which means most PC players will suggest things that won't work because of a different setup that we're not familiar with, and then someone gets upset because "that's a PC exclusive", sounding like we're supposed to know.

If you have an issue that is console based, you'd have to be sure to say that its console based otherwise you're guaranteed to get PC based solutions.

And honestly shouldn't there be a similar notification setting anyways?

Wasn't upset. I'm just fairly curt and abrupt by nature.

Oh and no, no setting whatsoever gets rid of them. If I had my way there'd be no chat at all (at least on my screen), I have no use for it.

Us console types are dumb enough to pay to use our own internet connections twice, so I guess they figured we're dumb enough to fall for tacky FOMO marketing.......which some are, so they forced it on us, along with the other visual clutter.

well, if you are dumb enough to admit certain things, then by no means did anyone force anything upon you.

hard to make a valid point about some aspects then place blame for others in the same sentence.

I would award you a whoosh, but that'd be a waste of time.

I can easily blame people for the Xbox Live/PS Plus garbage, as I never bought Xbox Live two gens ago.

I pay it now because it's a rental service on top of paying for our own internet connections twice.

You really get a good idea where Star Trek fan stereotypes come from on this board.

Hard to make a valid point when you miss the point entirely.

IMO all event stuff should make it into the Phoenix Box. That way you can get it, but if you want the account unlock you have the Mudd option.

    Fair enough.

It is, or at least it would be, if the total 'value' of all the prizes was evenly spread throughout the prize tiers. Otherwise we'll be right back here in 6-9 months (probably less) when all the basic-tier prizes are completely exhausted, and all that's left are the epic tier ones. Again. Right now, a good 90% (at least) is contained in the epic prize tier...which is why there are so many unspent uncommon prize vouchers, and why, despite Bort's comments against it, the trade-up option is the simplest solution.

and any concerns they might have about preserving the odds / cost can be addressed on their side by what ratio they set the trade-up at (which is why, except as an illustration earlier in this thread, I've tried to never give a specific number).

I've always thought that the existence of the trade-up option would itself generate demand - because of people like @phoenixc who wanted something high-tier but gave up because of the randomness, and possibly not having a use for the lower level tokens drawn while trying - regardless of what the ratio is.

I might even be in that category myself - I took a bit of a break when the Breen Raider came out and it'd be nice to have that trait for some of my builds. (I have it on one tac so far, but...)

Likewise. The Domino console is a great console, and a *LOT* of players would happily spend millions of dilithium getting the ship it comes with **IF** they could just spend said dilithium to get exactly what they want. If the 'trade up' cost of an epic prize token was in the ballpark of 4-4.5 million dilithium, that's actually *BETTER* for the game than what we have now, because that's 4-4.5 million dilithium *NOT* being fed back into a bunch of upgraded items to be sold on the Exchange, because what else is a player going to do with all those phoenix upgrades they don't need? It also won't produce the massive backlog of unspent prize vouchers we have now for the same reason -- they'll get consumed trading up, which gives the system time to balance itself out as new prizes get added.

I am not sure a total trade up cost of 4 to 5 million dilithium (8 to 10k Zen worth) is likely to encourage that many players to spend it for a single ship unlock when that ship was originally given away as an account unlock for the price of 10 to 15 minutes (or less in some cases) play time a day for a few weeks, even for the likes of a ship with a Domino console.

At least, not those who most want/need those ships - new players (or those who missed the original events) - since they do not tend to be the ones with that kind of dilithium to spare for even one ship, never mind all the ships in the UR and Epic tiers. The two top tiers of the Phoenix store are basically a big TRIBBLE to new players - you can have those nice ships we once gave away, just throw all the dilithium you earn at them and you might get lucky (or eventually make enough if they make the trade up cost what has been suggested above), but do not worry, you can always just pay cash for all the Zen you want anyway, since your dilithium is otherwise engaged.

So you are back to the point that so many make, the store is underused because there is nothing that players want in it - but that is only really true for those with plenty of dilithium to spare, who are also the most likely to have most items in it from the original events anyway. Most of the rest of us do not like the odds or just cannot spare the dilithium, and your suggested trade-up cost for the top tiers would not change that.

Most likely a few things will be added to the top tiers, those who can afford it will take a few months (if that) to get anything they do not already have, some will celebrate that x amount of dilithium has been taken out of the game, then will we will back to the current status quo, other than having added to the list of items that are out of reach of too many players.
