It does follow the old design ethos of smashing ships together and seeing what sticks that brought us the early MW efforts and alliance ships.

But the big giveaway was that this ship actually has pylons holding the nacelles in place rather than space magic and wishful thinking.

when I saw Yeager I actually lit up happy. I actually LIKE the class and the shots there of a new version are just perfect.

I'm making my first post ever on the forums to say that I'm sorely disappointed that its a joke. I've always wanted a Yeager class in my list.

It is really frustrating when an actually cool ship class, like the Yeager, is so disliked by the devs that they make it an April Fools joke.....
Especially when it looks cooler then 90% of the non-FED ships. Here's the real question though: Why does Kael or any of the devs for that matter get any say on what we get to fly? They don't pay a single cent on this!

90% of non fed designs... come on it looks cooler then every Disco "fed" ship.

Make it a C-Store ship with some reasonable seating, and you'll get money from me, Cryptic. I actually want to fly this ship, ten times more than any 32c Discovery ship design.
A zero cost way for Cryptic to finance and expand the foundry

That is not an excuse. The demand is there, and they are choosing to ignore it. Much to the frustration of me and everyone who has said so in this very thread. If they could give us a legitimate reason not to put it in, it wouldn't be so bad, However, it is well known that they only reason they haven't put it in is Kael.

Well-known in your head, perhaps. You are aware that Kael is a Community Manager, and has absolutely no say over what is and is not included in the game itself, yes? <chuckling at the idea that Al Riviera is over there asking Ambassador Kael politely, hat in hand, if they can include some new ship in the game>

No, it's not an excuse. It's just a fact. The developers decide, based on data, including previous sales, not just player demand, which ships make it into the game and when. Sometimes, ships are held off being introduced until they line up with the current storyline. Sometimes, there are other factors beyond their control.

"Legitimate" reasoning is going to be subjective, based upon the listener. What may seem reasonable to some, may not seem reasonable to you. And I honestly doubt, given the seeming attitude here, that any reasoning would be considered "legitimate" to you.

Well known? By who? You? If that's the case, that's a delusion. Kael has never actively blocked development of any ship. He has, in fact, gone to bat for many ships in the past. You should get the facts straight before you start spouting your opinions as if they were facts.

That makes even less sense. I've heard people asking about the Yeager and other kitbash since I started playing back in late 2016 to early 2017. And they are still being ignored. The reason for that has been Kael, and how much he hates kitbash ships from what I heard. At least, the finger has always been pointed towards him when I ask.

So, ok, if Kael isn't what's stopping it from happening, who is and how soon can they be handled or reigned in? And the funniest part of this whole situation is, there wouldn't have been any backlash if Arc hadn't insulted me or others that actually want a Yeager. It would be extremely easy to add to the game as well. Hell, they made T6 Orbeths and Mirandas, and if memory serves correctly, the Yeagers did a hell of a lot better in the Dominion Wars then either of those hunk of junks ever did.

Think I need to step away from ARC and STO for a bit. This whole situation is just making me madder the more I think about it.

You've "heard." So, we've established that you don't have any personal knowledge of this yourself. Trying to pass off things you've "heard" as fact when it's actually hearsay is disingenuous.

I'm sorry, but no one is getting "handled" or "reigned in." You seem to be lacking social skills, if you believe anyone needs to be treated that way, especially in a professional environment. I'm also sorry that you feel "insulted." It must be very painful to be so overly sensitive.

You also seem to have no clue as to how "easy" it would be to add any ship to the game. Or did I miss somewhere where you stated that you're a game developer or game artist/animator or current/former Cryptic employee?

Yes, they made T6 Oberths and Mirandas. They even finally made the T6 Nova, which had been asked for for far longer and only made it into the game last year. Patience pays off. And you're basing the Yeager's supposed performance on what? Seconds of screen time?

Yes, you probably should step way. Clearly, interacting in society is a bit too much for you.

I am one of those people who have been asking for the kitbash fleet ships, especially the Yeager class. They would be ideal c-store T6 ships.

I can see a practical reason why they might have passed the Yeager over back in the early days of the game (though I strongly suspect the devs just don't like it because of the silly myth about the secondary hull being a maquis raider instead of the freighter that used the same shooting model) because it is a very complex model compared to the early STO ship meshes, but that is no longer the case with overly busy ships like the Kirk class now in the game without causing too much lag from its excess geometry.

It might (or not) be a bear to make, but it does have its fans so if the number of requests for it (and recently the Pathyeager as well) is anything to go by there is at least as much of a market for it as there is for the T6 Oberth and Steamrunner and other "niche" ships they were not interested in making for so long.

And for that matter, some of the DS9 kitbash fleet ships are almost trivial modifications, such as the Antares which is pretty much just a Saratoga with a mission pod slapped on the top. And like the Yeager, it is explicitly not a one-off ship because four of them are shown in the same frame in Favor The Bold (there are at least two Yeagers since they showed as many as two of them behind DS9 on occasion, and probably many more since the biggest bottleneck in building Intrepids is undoubtably their bleeding edge engineering systems so the freighter housing less sophisticated engines would make great picket and convoy-escort ships).

Similarly, the Jupp is simply a rearrangement of Constitution Refit parts, so depending on exactly how the meshes are made it could be a trivial effort to add it to the game (model wise anyway, it might stump the ship systems people trying to come up with seating and weapon/console layout that is not too much but still interesting, of course). Getting rid of the extra weight of the secondary hull and practically riding the engines and weapon package bareback like that would probably speed the ships up to the point that they are assets again instead of liabilities, though such a ship would probably be broken down after the war if it could not take some sort of science pods for peacetime.

The Curry and Raging Queen types would be more work since the Excelsior secondary hull (and probably the nacelles, though they could probably get by with the ones already in the kit though they are a bit shorter than the screen ones) would have to be made for the kitbash kit for the Miranda types, though since the Centaur is already there the Excelsior saucer is already in the Miranda kit. They actually do make some sense as an attempt to create a subtype of Centaur into a heavier ship class (medium cruiser), in a manner similar to the way the NX's were eventually modified, that could be built in the same yards that produce ships of the rest of the kit.

The Bradford class pod-hauling tug would be interesting, and it probably could fit in the Miranda kit despite the engines being on top instead of underneath.

The Elkins class could be interesting too, and it uses design language similar to a number of ships already in the game despite the unusual catamaran secondary hulls (complete with dual deflectors).

As with many of the players it seems, I like the ship design. I would be proud to fly it even if it is just a freighter. I have flown the other freighters into combat and actually did ok. So send the design to the shipyards, because I and others want one.

Arc is merely a game launcher, like Steam. It has no say in what goes in the game. I think you meant that you need to stay away from Cryptic.
Now a LTS and loving it.
