I'm running STO on a PS5. Wired connection.
My son is playing on a PS4 Pro. Wired connection.
Both my son and I both have been having issues logging in today.
After character selected we get bounced out 'cannot connect to server'.
He has been unable to log in at all.
I have made it in twice. Both times I've been experiencing:
• input lag/unreceived remotely
(successfully registered locally, ability visual and audio going off, but no practical effects/ability resets as if not triggered),
• visual movement stuttering
(NPCs freezing and skipping ahead; me rubber banding on ground and in space)
I have run an internet connection test. I get over 70Mbps down/11 Mbps up.
I tried automatic and manual DNS settings.
Any advice?

That is a different issue. You'll find this has already been reported. Best not to change subject within an existing thread.
That said, they're aware and are working on it. For now, don't attempt Red Shift again until they release a patch. That likely won't happen until Tuesday. If you get stuck and cannot get back in to you character, contact support directly (chat) via this website and they will relocate your character for you.
Good luck and have fun!

I suspect it has to do with all the new inventory slots they've given everyone. I recall Kael mentioning in a livestream that lag/rubber banding was related to how many items we all have. Not sure how that works, but there you go.
I assumed they solved that issue when they announced they were giving away all these extra slots.
I don't actually have that many items myself, only two toons have any form of bank/inventory extensions bought for them so I didn't consider the extra database etc load.
