Can't claim mail items

I listed a number of Bridge officers on the exchange, while most sold there were some that didn't and now the auction has expired and they are in my mail bag. However the option to claim items from my mail is greyed out, same for a console that didn't sell. I am opening the mail on the character that originally listed the items on the exchange so that is not the problem. This appears to be yet another one of the many bugs that have cropped up with the new episode content.

Have you gone to a mail terminal? In order to get items that did not sell in the exchange, you need to go to a mail terminal and not just go to your mail bag. You can go directly to your mail bag only if someone has sent you a message or items have sold on the exchange.

As mentioned above, Items can only be claimed from mails if you have accessed your mail at a mail terminal.

Additionally, you must have sufficient free space in your Inventory to claim items.
For Bridge Officers, you may also need to have room in your list of candidates, which has a capacity of 15 potential officers.

I was using the mailbox on a ship, I'll head to ESD and try there, I've had problems with ship mailboxes before

Well don't I feel like an idiot. I was at the mail box but I had that bug that happens sometimes where you can't interact with items like the bank or mail box. So I was accessing the mail via the menu by mistake, hence why the items were greyed out. I feel so stupid, restarting the game bought back the interaction option so I could actually use the mail box. Silly me. Problems solved you may now return to your regularly scheduled mayhem.
